First, Bivol proved that he is the better man "AT HLW". Second, money deciding the A side is not sinking anything to its lowest, because it has been like that since FOREVER. I have always said that "pro-boxing" is a horrible name, we should call the sport "prize fighting" because it is way more accurate. They fight for money, no other reason at all. NONE. Ginger and Floyd has given the fans tons, tons of good fights that the fans wanted to watch. Being bivol's among them. Most of the fighters would have never taken canelo's or mayweather's fights, remaining comfortable always in the same weight. A good example of this is the very Bivol, who apart from canelo has fought noone and will end his career like that because he will never dare to go up or down in weight, same as gg or beterbiev. Specially canelo and mayweather are a good example of people fighting the best available. And more specially canelo, who has fought everyone and his mother. Your opinion regarding canelo and mayweater is so biased that is not worh ****. It's a pity, because it is not that you dont know about boxing, it is that raw hate is stronger than you.
So what were Bivol's demands that supposedly made Canelo make those comments? That's what I want to know. This is basically 9 pages of BS w/o any knowledge on what Bivol asked for. Was it an absurd amount? Or was it just closer to what others have made as opponents? Can anyone answer that? Because what Bivol wanted is pretty much the key to this.
Perhaps demanding that he defend his Undisputed titles against him despite the fact that the WBC has a ban in effect that prevents him from doing so. That alone would make it impossible for Canelo to accept. Combined with him demanding more $$, and not agreeing to the original terms of the rematch clause, which was a rematch at 175, you could see how Canelo could see Bivol as not realistic about making the fight. But if it was only a $$ demands, I don't think Canelo would turn that down, I think it was that there were a number of factors in play that as a whole made it impossible to make at the time. But to your point Lance, there could have been more demands that we don't know about. But again, the elephant in the room is Bivol's desire to fight for Undisputed at 168 which he is barred from doing due to the Russian ban. I wish someone in the boxing media would interview Bivol and ask him specifically about the Russian ban on challenging for WBC titles and if that was the main issue regarding the negotiations. Anotherwords, was Bivol willing to rematch Canelo at 168 not for Undisputed but for only the WBA, WBO and IBF titles since he couldn't challenge for the WBC? These kind of details we need to know otherwise we're just speculating. Bivol is on record stating that not only did he want to challenge for Undisputed at 168 but also that he wants to fight with Beterbiev. But all along it's as if he's completely ignoring the WBC Russian ban while trying to make fights that are impossible under the current predicament. If I'm not mistaken, Bivol attempted to appeal to the WBC to allow him to challenge for titles but I haven't heard anything about the WBC granting him an exception. Until / IF he gets that exception he's pretty much stuck defending his titles.
Without specifics, most of this is all pointless. And if there's a legit ban on Russians from the WBC, why isn't Canelo just stating he cannot fight him even if he wanted? Has he stated that? No. Just that Bivol's demands killed this. That's PR BS. But others have said, then fight for the other belts. And your statement that 'Bivol wants undisputed' is moot with this ban then. I highly doubt a fair purse and for the other belts would actually kill this. Bivol's not an idiot.
Well, there IS a legit ban on Russians challenging for WBC TItles. So there's no IF, I don't know why you doubt the legitimacy of the ban. Bivol is the WBA champ, the WBA has no such ban. So Bivol defending his title against Canelo is easy to make, while Bivol challenging Canelo at 168 for Undisputed is impossible. It's not a moot point because Bivol clearly wants Undisputed at 168 and he's appealed for an exception to be allowed to challenge for WBC titles. But from what I understand, the WBC has not granted it. So he's stuck wanting something that he isn't being allowed to challenge for. That's the main issue. Now if he was interested in fighting Canelo for 3 of the 4 titles at 168, that could be made, but it's unclear if Bivol wanted to do that. He's made it pretty clear that he's willing to take the risk to move down for Undisputed. But to your point Lance, we don't know if he was willing to fight for 3 out of the 4 titles. He should be asked that by someone in the boxing media. But I think it also speaks to the fact that it makes sense to not do the fight at 168 until the Russian ban gets lifted. Maybe by 2025 the Russian war will be over and then he could challenge for Undisputed by then. Either vs Canelo at 168 or vs Beterbiev (who is considered Canadian) at 175.
Jesus christ Shadow... Learn to get to the f'n point with your essay BS. What was the demand Bivol made that canelo says killed this? Not talking about any ban, but what exactly did Bivol demand that killed this? And get over the "Bivol wants undisputed". That's not the fight killer you keep trying to say it is. And why didn't canelo simply state, the WBC prevents this from happening. He isn't saying ANYTHING to that matter. Just the usual "The other guy killed the fight" nonsense. You really show how naive and new to boxing you are.
Bivol wanting Undisputed sounds like it was the fight killer. That's what he wanted to do, and he needed to appeal to the WBC in order for that to be made. It's unclear if Canelo was willing to defend the other 3 titles vs Bivol or if Bivol was willing to come down to 168 for only 3 of the titles. That's what we need to know Lance. What's abundantly clear is that the easiest way to make the rematch was to rematch at 175. Who knows if Bivol was even capable of making 168 in September, I'd imagine he'd need a long time, like 6 months to commit to come down to 168. And Bivol would risk losing his 175 title because he would have to defend that within a certain amount of time. Canelo was looking for an opponent for September, not a guy who was making unreallistic demands. My idea was for them to commit to a 2 fight deal, a rematch at 175 then a match at 168 for Undisputed if and when the Russian ban was lifted or if he was able to get an exception. But Bivol apparantly refused to rematch him at 175 so in effect that made it impossible to make for September. Not to mention demanding more $$ which only compounded the problem.
'Sounds like a fight killer'. Jesus... And you honestly believe that was it? You will literally take ANYTHING said and run to the bank with it. I mean, if you want to play the he said she said (She being canelo in this case) canelo said he'd do a rematch at 175. Soo....??? You don't have the first clue as to what Bivol can make, NOR do you have any idea what it would take. Cut that **** out.
Ginger lovers have no shame and even less integrity. Plant who had fought binmen, bus conductors, and librarians got paid $10 mill BJS 2.0 who was trash at 168 and was badly hurt by a delivery van driver bum at that weight and went life and death against a cattle farmer from The Pampas in one of his other ones got paid $8 And Callum Smith who was coming off a robbery of the year 'win' against Juan Ryder in his previous fight so he shouldn't have even held the title in the first place, let alone the vacant WBC belt also being put on the line by Clenelo's fairy godfather Mauricio who has done his best to keep the, at worst. second best at that weight Benavidez as far away from his ginger goose as possible, got paid $8 to possibly as much as $10 mill But Bivol who took a low cut of $2-$5 mill knowing that should he win which he firmly believed he was going to would receive a much bigger slice of the pie in the rematch doesn't deserve more than he did for the first fight even after whooping the ass of the then P4P king and biggest star in the sport with ease without even needing to move out of second gear Yildirim apparently earned somewhere around the $2 mill mark for the Clenelo fight. I get he was a mandatory but still None of these fighters have made nine defences of a world title or have wins over Clenelo, let alone one-sided schoolings over him How the hell is this even a conversation in the first place? Bivol categorically deserves more than Plant, BJS 2.0, and Smith but both the Ginger devil god and his weird little Ginger cult think it's highly unreasonable of him to want and expect fair treatment at the negotiating table and to be compensated even as much as all those fighters were
I agree that Bivol deserves more $$ after beating Canelo. You calling it a one-sided schooling is irrelevant, that's a matter of interpretation. It was close on the scorecards, but regardless, he won, and he won clearly. This would surely entitle Bivol to demand more $$ for a rematch at 175 which could have been agreed upon. The main issue why the rematch didn't get made is that Bivol was not interested in rematching at 175. And as I pointed out several times, a rematch at 168 for Undisputed was not possible due to the Russian ban. You have yet to address the elephant in the room which was the fact that Bivol wanted to fight for Undisputed at 168 which he could not do, not because of Canelo's unwillingness to defend his title aginst him, but because the WBC would not sanction the match. It's unclear if Bivol was interested in fighting Canelo for only 3 out of the 4 titles, but the main point of Bivol moving down to 168 has always been to fight for Undisputed. So short of that, regardless of any of the other BS argued in this topic, the fight was never going to happen until the Russian ban was lifted or until the WBC granted Bivol an exception, which to my understanding they have not yet. And it's the same reason why he hasn't fought Beterbiev, not because Bivol is ducking him, but because he's not allowed to challenge for Beterbiev's WBC title.
