Seems to me like the WBA has just indirectly strengthened Alvarez' position and taken away what little leverage Bumlovkin had. Canelo is now holding all the cards. If the WBA is serious about enforcing their 160 mandatory in the event a Canelo Bumlovkin fight doesn't happen *and* Alvarez vacates the WBC 160 pound title - Bumlovkin could find himself having to choose which one of those titles he wants to keep. The WBC 160 pound mandatory is overdue - and in the event Canelo vacates - the Triple Duck, who will be elevated to FULL champion status, will also inherit Canelo's mandatory obligation. However, if the WBA moves forward with its threat to enforce their mandatory - Bumlovkin will have TWO mandatory obligations that are due immediately. I don't know if Team Triple Duck realizes this or not but don't be surprised to hear a more conciliatory tone from them regarding the 155lb catchweight in the coming weeks...
Really? Seems more like the WBA have just guaranteed Golovkin a big fight either way. Could fight Jacobs in a mandatory AND defend the WBC (that he'd be upgraded to via the interim) in the same fight. The WBC have him as the mandatory and given his schedule he'd be able to meet the next mandatory easily. Jacobs in the summer (mandatory and first defense of the WBC), Heiland (WBC mandatory) or BJS (WBO unification for the set) in the fall...viola, thank you Gilberto Mendoza, job here is done!
Jacobs is not ranked by the WBC therefore he is ineligible to fight for their title in a mandatory defense...
Jacobs is GGG's WBA mandatory there is no rule saying he can't fight for the WBC title in a unification fight
And Wade was ranked by the WBA... He'd be a WBA mandatory [as stated by Mendoza] and it'd be regarded as a WBA/WBC unification bout [hence the lack of a WBC ranking not mattering]. The WBC have shown little to suggest they are forcing mandatories on fighters. Their last mandatory in the weight was in September 2012, they'd almost certainly allow a unification with Heilend Vs TBA for the interim if they were that bothered, and have the Heiland Vs TBA\Golovkin Vs Jacobs winner as the mandatory.
Once Canelo is forced to vacate the title, rest will be no problem. Golovkin can go 2 more fights in 2016.
That's assuming the WBC is willing to make Jacobs the mandatory to Bumlovkin's WBC title and that Jacobs is willing to pay the additional sanctioning fees.
How could Bumlovkin Jacobs be regarded as a WBA/WBC unification bout when A) Bumlovkin is already the WBA "Super" Champion and B) Jacobs doesn't hold the WBC title? Are you really that clueless or is it an act?
Stupid thread...how much it hurts to see a foreigner fightergetting the love that black fighters dont get? It must killing you fool...you must be really really sad re****ed person.:verysad:verysad:verysad
As usual, you ducked the rest of his post. Can't WBC just allow Golovkin to fight Jacobs first, make an interim title bout for Heiland and after that order the winners to face each other, like they've been doing for the last year and a half?
Yes, but that's assuming Team Jacobs is interested in paying sanctioning fees for the WBC title. Team Jacobs' posture could be that they're interested in enforcing the WBA mandatory ONLY.
