If you were Canelo, or Canelo's team, who would you fight this year, next year, and beyond? If you had to plan it out, with contingency plans. What makes the most sense for Canelo and his legacy.

And really think about this logically. What makes the most sense, in terms of where he is now (168) and where other fighters are (175 or higher). Understanding the challenges and risks with moving up in weight, and understanding the responsibility that Canelo has now to defend his 168 titles.

For those that want him to drop everything and challenge Benavidez at 175 next, is that really a smart move if you were Canelo? Wouldn't it be better to take care of his business at 168 and then challenge Benavidez after he has fought Bivol or Beterbiev? That way Benavidez would be Unified or Undisputed Champ!

Think about it not in terms of $$ necessarily, but legacy. I get that everyone wants to see Canelo fight Benavidez. But would that be advisable for him to drop everything and fight him now? Would that be smart? What if he took care of business at 168 this year, and then move up to Fight Benavidez next year?

Essentially what I'm asking is, if you hold Canelo not fighting Benavidez against him does it matter to you if he fights him now or next year? And wouldn't you want to see that fight happen if both were Undisputed Champions, which is a distinct possibility?

Next year, Canelo vs Benavidez could potentially be Undisputed vs Undisputed making it much, much bigger than it would be now. So with that in mind, list who you think Canelo should fight over the next several years. What you want to see, but also keeping in mind what fights make the most logical sense given the weight and the logical progression of where Canelo is now and what he could do in the future.

Here is what I have in mind as a possible career arc :

May 2025 : Scull for Undisputed
Sept 2025 : Mbilli for Undisputed
May 2026 : Crawford for Undisputed
Sept 2026 : Benavidez (if Benavidez is Undisputed at 175 by then)
May 2027 : Jake Paul at Cruiserweight (if Paul is World Champion by then)
    Sept 2028 : Bivol rematch?

If Canelo did this over the next 3 years, would you be satisfied?

List your next 6 fights if you had to plan it out now, and really think about the title situation and weight considerations.

To be honest I hope he at least fights Benavidez this year or the next. Other than that I don't really have any expections.

Number 1 priority should be Benavidez.

Agreed. It doesn't make sense for Canelo to fight Benavidez this year, because you would need time for Benavidez to fight the winner of Beterbiev Bivol. If Benavidez wins, then hell yes I would wanna see Canelo challenge Benavidez for Undisputed at 175. But before Benavidez becomes a world champ at 175? Why the heck would anyone want to see that now?

How do you like my next 6 fights career arc? Would you have any issue if Canelo fought Skull for Undisputed then Mbilli? Would you rather Canelo fought Crawford instead of one of those guys this year? Or does Crawford make more sense next year? That would give Crawford the chance to fight another Champ at 154 or even to move up to 160 if wanted to, which some seem to be saying they'd rather see Crawford do.

The risk though is that if Crawford loses to anyone before he fights Canelo, which he very well could if he takes on someone as good as his last opponent at 154 you would lose the Canelo fight. So if you're Crawford, by fighting anyone else, you risk the Canelo fight down the road. That's why I would think it might be smart for Bud to take the Canelo fight now if it is on the table rather than fight someone else and risk that huge peydey and legacy fight.

In a non-title fight at 175? Instead of fighting for UNDISPUTED at 168 vs Scull? Where are your priorities? Your fixation on Benavidez is illogical. I get that you want to see the fight, but it doesnt make any sense for it to happen now. They are in two different weight classes both trying to become Undisputed. Wouldn't the fight mean more next year if/when both are Undisputed?

He's already been undisputed at SMW and hasnt been beaten, so any belts in the division are worthless now.

Benavidez is a fight hes ducked for years, it's long long overdue.

You're hopeless man lol. You know I want to see Canelo fight Benavidez as much as you do, but the difference is, it should happen when it makes sense. It doesn't make sense now. Don't be daft. Stop being so fixated on Benavidez that you lose track of where Canelo and Benavidez are now and what they're priorities are. Even Benavidez is saying he has no interest in fighting Canelo now, he's focused on fighting the winner of Beterbiev Bivol 2. Why aren't you??

Lets get them both to be Undisputed in their respective weight classes and then face off and it'll be that much more historic.

    You're asking me about Canelo.

Canelo has ducked Benavidez for years. Let's stop putting it off and have them fight.

    Marination never works.

Don't asl a question then cry about the answer you receive.

You've posted a thread asking who we want Canelo to fight. We all want Benavidez.

Instead of Benavidez vs the winner of Beterbiev Bivol for Undisputed at 175?

You'd rather see Canelo vs Benavidez now for no titles at 175 instead of BOTH fighters fighting for Undisputed in their respetive weight classes? GTFOH!!

I know for a fact that many fans on here are much more interested in seeing Benavidez vs the winner of Beterbiev Bivol!!

As usual you're way off and trying to speak for everyone on top of that.

Because Canelo ducked him for years. All caps crying like CJ doesn't help your weak argument no matter how many exclamation points you add unnecessarily.
