Are you hoping it tanks so that, by comparison, GGG's numbers don't look so bad in the post Floyd-Pac market? :smoke
No, I want it to succeed so it'd show the PPV market isn't ruined and that GGG still has a chance at becoming become a PPV star and that a fight with Canelo would still do great numbers. But I'm just thinking of what's probably going to happen. Nice try though.
I wasn't trying anything. Merely making a reasonable observation, as your intentions are usually transparent, despite a foundation in truth behind most of what you say combined with your astute power of observation. :smoke
Unfortunately a bout such as this has to be on a PPV because of the ridiculous economics of boxing, so it flopping wouldn't necessarily be good for the sport, I don't hope it does..
Yep, this is as much or more about nationalism as it is about Cotto or Canelo as boxers. I'm not sure if it does over 1 mill but it wouldn't surprise me.
I've been wanting to do a Best Of Mexico Vs Puerto Rico tribute, but I'm afraid I'd get banned for inciting a ethnic flame war. So I've resisted. There's always fireworks when those two countries go head to head.
It's terrible, I only ever hear about this fight from hardcore fight fans. I don't hear a peep from casuals. The kind of fight that could actually propel boxing by turning casuals into hardcore fans and we're coming up nil.. just horrible.
I doubt it, there's a whole thread dedicated to it already, one of the most popular threads here in terms of post count I think.
I am afraid GBP and Roc Nation are going to be slightly disappointed. It might make it to 1 million, but I don't think it goes much further than that. The interest is there, but definitely not as much as some of Cotto or Canelo's older fights.
Incidentally, for those of you throwing out guesses on whether it does less than a million, around a million, over a million, etc - what exactly are you basing these guesses on? Anyone? :smoke
The knowledge that Mexicans are the ones who mainly buy this **** and this is a big fight for them.. Their best boy against their rival nation's.
