Great stoppage victory for Canelo but I had Plant winning a lot of rounds, Canelo missing wildly looking one dimensional.
That wasn't much of a surprise. A guy like Plant barely makes it into the top10 of guys Canelo faced.
I had it fairly even at the stoppage but people give canelo rounds just coz he throws good looking punches but few landed. Plant jabbed his head off for at least 4 of the 1st six rounds. Canelo proving again that he struggles against slick boxers. Floyd would still school his ass and I never thought I would say that lol
When you're fighting an undefeated beltholder it's about winning rather than style points. He stopped him too which is a bonus.
Canelo was looking for the kayo all night, trying to make it exciting. Can't count on Plant to give us an exciting fight.
I was thinking he was having trouble against the shoulder roll style of plants. Too many memories of mayweatheresque blueprint trying to be played out. I think they should have used a better sparring partners to mimic Caleb plant because for a while Canelo couldn't even land the right hand. But in retrospect he broke the man down physically with his strength. I would have liked to see some more sprawling like Ricky Hatton giving himself better angles by jumping around with footwork, leaping, pivoting etc. At times I wanted to see him throw combos a) like Mike, calculated sequences or b) like Cotto brawling it out making his punches be felt like in the Floyd Mayweather fight, creating his own openings. But ah well his timing sure disrupted speed.
There's a difference between being 'trash' and being B level. Why is it always such extreme measures? You are either ELITE or TRASH/BUM? Plant did a bit better than I expected in terms of frustrating Canelo at points, and as expected didn't have the power to get enough respect and make ginge wary, but he was hardly trash!
I respect your opinion. I don't claim to be some kind of guru. Just stating how I seen it. Have a great day
