Canelo does not have the wow factor of a p4p number 1

Watching every Canelo fight since Golovkin is like reading a script, it is super predictable and monotonous. He walks down his opponents, does exagerated feints, and lands some text book punches. The worst thing is that Canelo's success is getting to his head, as he can't speak a word of English without dropping an F bomb.

To be honest I have not enjoyed a Canelo fight since his questionable win against Golovkin. Canelo just does the same thing in every fight. An analogy would be listening to a singer who can only sing in one pitch/tone, no matter how good they are it gets old fast. It seems that Canelo's success in the ring is purely down to hardwork as it seems to me that he is just repeating drills Reynoso taught him in training.

Now Inoue does have the wow factor of a p4p number 1, like prime Floyd, Pacquiao, Roy Jones, Tyson. Inoue has every thing Canelo doesn't have and more, Inoue has great feet, great punch variety, spectacular combinations, one punch KO power.

A midget knocking out bigger men isn't a wow factor to you?

Ehem, you mean a 5 ft 8 boxer who is built like a tree trunk knocking out lanky 6 foot 3 boxers like Smith. Mike Tyson ran through a bunch of lanky 6 foot 3 bums too.

Any ways, when I say wow factor I mean in terms of his offensive and defensive skills. Canelo is too predictable, and I'm surprised other boxers have not realized this.

Like Mike says everyone has a plan... Till you get punched in the face.

It's one thing to realize what he's doing, it's another to sit there for 12 rounds getting bombs thrown at you.

I do agree he can be monotonous, but that's kind of exciting in its own way.. it's like watching terminator slowly walk down his victim.

Can you really say this after he literally just crushed a portion of his last opponents face.

On the other hand, you Canelo-haters definitely have that WOW factor.

I empathize a little bit, but not sure what else he can/should do. It's like older Floyd, he's mastered a style and knows how to deal with everyone's plan to counter it. He's coming in better prepared than them and playing off their expectations.

He does show a lot of variation within his current style, and has evolved considerably from years back when his opponents were his height or shorter.

Inoue is cool too, hopefully he stays focused and active and gives Canelo some tough competition for the P4P top spot.

Canelos fights have been boring since GGGx2 and that's because all since have not come to win or are fixed. The last fight that was even remotely interesting to watch was BJS

    1. Canelo walks/plods forward not particularly moving his head or feinting (he does feint here and there though) or doing anything extraordinary (he is a good counterpuncher but not so on the frontfoot)
    2. Opponent does nothing to stop Canelos forward movement despite not being a great counterpuncher on the front foot. Opponent (Kovalev or Callum) throw jabs with no intent or force behind it and let's Canelo plod towards them throwing body slaps/punches to elbows with a few getting through eventually
    3. Canelo wins in points
    4. Rinse and repeat

He's good but theres a reason he cherrypicks old dudes, dehydrates opponents, slaps on short camps, jumps weight divisions for weakest opposition.. Its because him or his team are not confident Canelo can beat top level opposition in their prime without stacking things completely in their favour
