How could you say round 10 was close enough? Please rewatch that round. Despite the fact that Canelo gassed himself out, what did GGG actually do in return? Stalk him and throw weak punches and miss? Canelo then picks it back up again at the end of the round to definitively seal the round. Please watch it again. Canelo was robbed. 10 - 2.
Very easy fight to score unless one is blinded by hatred. Clearly GGG hesitated to go to the body because was getting countered. He was also missing approx. 50% of his punches and slightly staggered in the tenth. Here is my take on the scoring: GGG was clearly outpointed in these rounds: 1, 2, 5, 6, 11, 12, GGG clearly won 3, 4, 7, 8 rounds The remaining rounds 9, and 10 were even or extremely close.
I thought it was a toss-up fight coming in to it, with Canelo on the way up and GGG slipping a bit. A year or two ago, I'd have made GGG a clear and wide favorite. While I'm a bigger fan of GGG, I was (and am) a Canelo fan, too. Cinnamon should be proud of that performance, but while he was competitive and deservedly took some rounds, he didn't show me he was ready to overcome that kind of obstacle. Not yet. He can build on this performance. The ring generalship just wasn't there for him for the majority of the fight to end up with a draw or win, though. I thought GGG won more rounds, and the rounds he won, he tended to win more clearly. My card was 8-4 Golovkin. I'm happy to see a rematch, as it was a heck of a fight.
Idk i thought the 11th and definitely the 12th Canelo jumped on him early and built a big lead in the rounds, GGG put on pressure but missed alot the championship rounds were pretty obvious to me.
