Would not have complained about a Lemieux fight. He at least has a weapon that might help him, unlike Fielding.

Man Fielding didn't even try though. He let Canelo walk comfortably right into range, no jabs to slow him down. He didn't try to move around the ring, didn't tie him up, nothing. He was literally standing there. Even Jamie Moore should have told him to throw the kitchen sink at Canelo. Instead he told him he gonna start slowing down. He should have known after the first KD in the 1st round that Fielding was ridiculously overmatched. Even against Zeuge he threw punches. He just froze up completely. Terrible tactics and execution all around.

The fight was a mismatch but hey there are loads of those in boxing.

I'm no fan of Ginger or his dodgy manager Fishnets but after a couple of wars with GGG, a mismatch is allowed in my book.

Fielding did all he could and tried to lay his heaviest punches on Ginger. But the gulf in class was apparent from the start.

So a bit of a pointless fight but nothing that unusual these days.

Clearly, Fielding was a guy who was not ready for prime time. He was overwhelmed by the moment. The stupid grin to the corner each time he went down was embarrassing. I actually felt bad for the guy. He shouldn't have been in there.

Martirosyan was Spike O Sullivans replacement and GGG wasn't in a last minute dash situation to find an opponent.

He had multiple options available to him of which Martirosyan was none of them , meaning he sought out retired , unranked Martirosyan personally while ignoring his mandatory S.D which would ultimately cost him his belt.
Its on Caneo that Canelo vs Golovkin II didn't happen... Anything after that was all on Golovkin.
Golovkin could have fought whoever , whenever he wanted , but handpicked Vanes above everybody else.
Canelo caught more flack for fighting Rocky than GGG for fighting Vanes Martirosyan.. Crazy isn't it..:roto2palm:

Lol the OP needs to take a break off boxing forums. This was clearly a stay busy fight after two wars with GGG. He will fight a top middleweight in May.

Imagine if that was GGG beating the crap out of Rocky last night. The GGGirls would be up here with their pom poms proclaiming he was back on top of the PFP list.

I didnt love the opponent selection but am not angry either

He fought in September and quickly turned around in December to fight again. He moved up, fought a world class guy at 168, wasnt on PPV, first fight on DAZN, new market, just beat GGG I was ok with it

if he fights in May and September like he usually does that would be 4 fights in the year span from September 18 to September 19 which would be incredible

There are so many fights to be made between the elite guys at 160 and Callum Smith I'll be mad if he takes a soft touch next but right now things look good. So many said he would duck GGG and he fought him twice. I expect Canelo to chase a big fight in 2018

Step up? He just beat the boogeyman ggg. He fought him twice to set the record straight. Before that he had good wins over trout, Lara, angulo, chavez he etc. He deserved a light touch to close the year out.

Hopefully he fights his mandatory charlo or fights jacobs or Andrade in May. He got a huge guarrantee of money and timing is everything, for now I dont blame him.

    My issue was this,
We knew Fielding was massively overmatched and as the Main Event it was going to be a poor offering. Knowing that, the promoters should ensure the undercard is quality so as to give paying fans their money’s worth but the supporting fights were awful and predictably so.

Terrible promotion which just dragged on throughout the whole card and ended with a predictable farce between Canelo & Fielding.

Lets not pretend that there aren't many Canelo fans calling him a 3 division champion after years of calling Golovkins title defense streak fake.

But then again you spend all you time focusing on the opinions of sheep and diehard casuals so of course your world view is screwed up.

No assumptions here. You spend all day arguing with idiots who are never going to have an unbiased opinion and fail to realize you're just one side of the same coin.

You on the other just made quite the assumption yourself so I'm not sure why you're pointing fingers. But then again it just reinforces my point doesn't it.
