If this happens Oscar isnt a genius but Loeffler is the dumbest promoter in the history of boxing.

 

Man I love that little Georgian, been following his career since 2009, not many can say that, but I dont give him even 3% chance of KO'ing Canelo. A decision win for him is off the table of course

 

Why would you be dissapointed at Canelo's fans?

You know there are boxing fans and BOXER fans. And they arent fans of this sport, so why the dissapointment. They dont wanna see Canelo in tough fights, so he keeps winning with ease. Thats all they care about.

How dare a top boxer be confident enough to want to fight every three months against a decent opponent. If GGG and his team did cancel this bout for Canelo they should expect a larger purse, and if the fight doesn't happen in September they should sue GB.

 

new guys will always emerge....a Chavez type fight, while u might not be able to think of it off the top of the head, will emerge in the next year or so...a khan fight will emerge again...he wont have to fight bums or fight 3 or more of these types of fights do to the same he would against golovkin

I don't think canelo cares about reaching Floyd/Oscar levels...hes 26 and already doing as well, if not better, than Floyd was doing at that age....and lets not put golovkin at Oscar/Floyd levels....beating golovkin doesn't take you to that level...it might get you massive respect...but it doesn't make you the new Oscar/Floyd...because golovkin is neither of them

you know who Oscar was as a fighter...now when there was a lot of trash talk between ward/ggg camps...ward saw loeffler and approached him at may/pac....ward(a straight shooter) said loeffler threw his hands up and said "the trainer..he likes to talk a lot"......now.....I know golovkin fans would like us to believe what a trainer says doesn't matter.....but lets see that stuff reaches the "scene"...now maybe Oscar doesn't read it directly....but Oscar gives a lot of quotes to them....im sure someone on his PR team reads that place daily...hes being briefed about it...hes being briefed about how he claims anyone at 168 can get it...then finds out ward is reaching out and being declined in minutes

you think Oscar is looking to potentially sacrifice his boy to someone like that? knowing who Oscar the fighter was?

look at the way the career MW was licking his chops to take belt of 5-7 cotto

not to mention canelo was in the ring with trout and lara...at a young age...how many times in the last few years would a ggg/lara fight have made, at least on paper, a better fight that the one golovkin took?

guys like Oscar, especially being a pretty proud fighter, notice stuff like this and see golovkin trying to take easy street......or at least it appears that way to many.....if Oscar were trying to make life very difficult for golovkin would you be surprised?

 

Well, all I was saying is that if Canelo wants to become an even bigger name he needs to fight the biggest names around him. That means GGG, although clearly GGG is not a superstar, he's still the biggest name Canelo could reasonably face. Ward is too big and a horrible stylistic matchup (same prob. GGG had), and Pacquaio is old and is unlikely to risk his health by fighting the much larger Canelo.

The thing is that Oscar the promoter has been quite the opposite of Oscar the fighter. Indeed he was a proud fighter, no criticisms there. But he plainly admitted he wanted Canelo to duck both Lara and Trout. So if that's his reason for trying to screw GGG, it's a poor one to be honest.

Oh yes, new fights will emerge and Canelo is still young. All I was saying is that the best opponent right now is Golovkin.

I still record that against Oscar though, shows me he doesn't want Canelo to fight the best. Canelo gets extra credit for facing them anyway ... that's how it works with me.

I don't mean to skirt around the hard questions, certainly Golovkin and his team can be fairly criticized in a number of areas and I wouldn't deny that.

 

we never really saw the khan fight coming....because were fixated on canelo/ggg....now the Chavez fight I can say was a bit easier to see....but we still didn't really see it coming...too fixated on ggg/canelo....new fights will pop up for canelo, without golovkin, if that's the way GB wants it.....

I consider EL Chicano threads to be nothing more than conjecture, so I'm not paying much attention to anything here.

If they pass on the Saunders fight to hope for the Canelo one (assuming there isn't a genuine injury), then **** K2 and GGG. I love the guy but that's just a shitty move. If he does that then all this 'all the belts' credibility completely vanishes overnight. Especially considering he'd stand to make a lot of money from the Saunders fight too.

Like I said, if he has a genuine injury and can't do the summer then ok fair enough but...you never can be sure.

 

I agree...I think that "all the belts" stuff was fading fast anyway...but you are right...it would completely be gone.....

genuine injury? eh....I highly doubt it...this is the same group that tried to sell us kell brook as basically an "accident"....one can never really be sure about legitimacy of injuries.....but I'd have a tough time buying that from his camp

 

My point is that both are so focused about business that they don't care about boxing or legacy, so he shouldn't judge Loeffler for being the same. I guess at least Oscar was a great fighter.

 

well I can agree with that.....but as modern day boxing fans its just something you have to learn to accept...ive had to come to terms with this.....weve heard over and over "we don't get a cut I just want to see the best fight the best ..I don't care about money" from fans when it suits their fighter/argument...but those guys aren't always good at applying that logic both ways.... collectively we should all realize that pretty much all fighters are working under risk/reward management these days.....especially guys at 140 plus who have potential to make some real money
