Batman implied roids helped Canelo's chin. Morrison got beaten down by Mercer cos his chin can't handle a punch.
KEN HISSNER: It would be 9 months before defending your title and again in a rematch from the Olympic trials against Tommy “The Duke” Morrison in your first and only WBO title defense. It’s still being shown on highlight films. Tell us about your opponent and how the fight ended. RAY MERCER: Tommy Morrison came out strong and said make him go 5 rounds and he will be out of gas. He started leaning on me so I knew he was tired so I opened up.
Being gassed out weakens the jaw.. So GGG couldn't even drop a gassed out Nelo with a weakened chin? k.
If GGG wins does he nick the P4P #1 slot from Loma or does he just solidify his position at #2? I mean he'd have 2 wins over Clenelo then - one official, the other unofficial but 85% or whatever the crazy high number is of people polled had GGG winning, same as Manny vs Horn and Kovalev vs Ward I - we all know who the real winners in those ones were and the general consensus and the polls don't lie.
Golovkin’s poor footwork and Canelos great boxing abilities is why the 1st match went 12. Canelo will be even more acclimated to this weight which should improve his stamina
Everybody wana make bold predictions hoping to quote their own posts after the fact for some validation from others on the internet but nobody wanna put up the big money and post a bet slip lol.
I think the biggest questions to this rematch is 1. Was Canelo on roids? GGG is the man to make us find out. If this kid tires out it would be huge. Boxing media will rain gods holy fire onto Canelo's name. Fans will demand flesh and blood by the gallons. I might be dramatic but you see the pic. 2. Who has the best camp? I feel like this fight will be war versus camps/trainers. Who can make the bigger adjustments come fight time? GGG NEEDS to start earlier. Canelo needs to counter better. He could took away GGG weapons but he needs to be sharper. Mayweather sharp. They been in with each other for 12 rounds. They know what to do.
More than anything, he respected Canelo's presence from the get go and slooowly eased into his own rhythm. That respect is now gone. While it's a solid argument that Canelo is the better boxer and rematches favor the boxer, I feel it's the other way around. GGG too worked out Canelo's angles and his own mistakes of starting slow and not attacking the body. GGG's gonna take chances and eat leather to land lead, and if it's a shootout, it's hard to see how Clen's chin or stamina holds up for 12. Anyone who think's GGG isnt a apex predator on the front foot should think twice. Canelo wins the boxing contest, GGG wins the fight. It's gonna be a fight.
If he does that, he's playing right into Canelo's game and well placed counter punches. Body punches hurt worse when you are in the act of punching or moving forward.
Mostly due to being gassed. Mercer unloaded on him, all of those shots would have KO'd the vast majority of heavyweights.
