He posted a pic, every other comment is "GGG 160" or "fight GGG" I love when fans pressure fighters like this. Canelo getting Heat for his antics. 155 Canelo weight wtf is that
And let me ask you this, why are people hating on the player and not the game? WBC allows him to defend his titles at 155, why wouldn't he if he can make that weight and use it to his advantage... He's exploiting the system.
Yeah ... they should bring back the colour line, too. And make world championships only available to Americans. Yeah. Sounds good. What a game. Canelo needs to sack up and fight GGG at 160 or GTFO town.
I understand anyone who says if its a title on the line no catchweight, but GGG is the one who keeps saying he can make 154 and the one with no quality wins. He should take what he can get like plenty of actual great fighters have done before him, and if he wins everything goes through him. Simple really.
Reminds me of the May/Pac pressure after the Algieri fight. Remember when fans bombarded every picture with #fightPacquiao. It was CRAZY. Seriously thousands and thousands of comments on all his instagram photos and twitter. So much so that Mayweather responded by posting a Instagram video of him getting knocked out! Lol
Bingo! GGG opened the window to the thought of fighting at 154 lbs vs Pacquiao or Mayweather, had he not done that, Canelo might not be taking the stance today of a GGG fight being at 155. If the WBC stands for it, Canelo is going stand firm on the weight issue of defending his title at 155 lbs. As gab said, hate on the game, not the player. Exactly correct on GGG being the one with no quality wins and he's the one that in need to step up to the plate, not Canelo. I remember back when Marco Antonio Barrera moved up in weight and took the title away from Naseem Hamed at 126 lbs. Juan Manuel Marquez who had been ducked by Hamed, called out MAB when he took the title from Hamed. MAB's reaction to the media about Marquez' comments was, "I'm not a true featherweight, I think I might go back to 122 lbs." JMM's reaction to that was, "I can make 122 lbs, we can fight there if he wants!" :deal You see, that situation was similar to the Canelo-GGG situation today. JMM needed MAB not the other way around, and so Marquez in order to attempt to land the fight was willing to sacrifice and come down to MAB's demands. Turned down that MAB dumped the IBO title he won from Hamed and a year later fought a rematch with Erik Morales at 126 lbs. When MAB was given a gift against Morales, he again dumped the WBC title he had taken from Morales and avoided the real top fighter in the division which we all know now was one Juan Manuel Marquez. GGG isn't in position to call the shots, its why he has to bow down to demands just like Marquez at least attempted to do in his attempt to land a MAB fight. I think the difference is that JMM is the real badass, not GGG!!!yep:hey Take that Beouche!!! Just the facts my friend! :hat
More like 'tolerates.' If the WBC mandate that he faces GGG to defend his belt, they don't care about the weight, so long as it is under 160. If such a direction came from the WBC and Canelo forced GGG to sign a contract at a lesser weight (say 155) and the paperwork was all signed and done, and then, GGG weighs in at 160, Canelo could pull out and even enforce whatever consequences the contract called for, but if he did, GGG would be awarded the middleweight title by the WBC, and, even though Canelo would still hold the mythical 'lineal' title, how much stock would boxing fans put in that fact, given that he had just refused to defend it within the MW limit ? Something for GGG to think about.
Well even if we concede all the stuff about 'ducking' and 'robbery' (matters of opinion), the situation is still not the same as GGG-Canelo. MAB moving down to junior feather wt (122) would be like Canelo moving down to junior Middle wt (154). MAB did not try to defend the Feather weight title at 123, which would be the equivalent of what Canelo is trying to do.
Say what you want do what you want but it will not alter the facts that the two stand out fighters between 160 & 175 are Gennady Golovkin & Sergey Kovalev. They are the uncrowned undisputed champions. Oh & no I'm not eastern European either I'm a FIGHT FAN!!!!
Yes, and their tolerance has created this loohope for Canelo to exploit. They could easily prevent this... How you may ask? Well they can make a rule that says there can be no catchweights for title defenses. The only limit is the weight class limit at which the title is being contested for. Would make boxing much better as most of us agree, catchweights for title fights is a bad thing overall. However, obviously this isn't good for WBC so they won't do it, as long as WBC has their interests in mind and not boxing's, look forward to more guys like Canelo and more drainages.
Your fan boy levels are deep. These are a completely different set of facts. Also, for the Manny and Floyd fights, those are SMALL FIGHTERS. Canelo HYDRATES UP TO 175. The dude was the same weight as DeGale who fights at 168. Give me a break. Canelo is a pampered fighter who just so happens to be born good looking, is Mexican at a time where there are no other stand out Mexican fighters, hes a good boxer no doubt but if HE WERE GOLOVKIN he would never get the chances he did. Imagine if GGG was Mexican he'd be the new Mike Tyson or Chavez Sr of boxing. Instead, the man has to KO 21 straight opponents to make a name for himself. While Canelo enjoyed 2 million PPVs fighting Floyd at the age of 22, GGG was fighting Lajuan Simon in Panama at his prime of 29 with 100 people in the room. GGG had to earn his way to the limelight, the hard way, getting avoided by Sturm, Geale, Murray, Quillin, Martinez, Chavez, Froch, etc. He just in the past year began to breakout and still cant headline a PPV because he cant get the dance partner in with him. That's the truth.
The middleweight division is any weight above 155 pounds and up to 160 pounds So let canelo come in whatever he wants and let GGG be a middleweight. That is if canelo is that good at 155 as he says.
