The numbers are in! 550-575K PPV buys. They were expecting 800 I think. Idiot Hearn did not spend any money marketing this. How are you gonna sell any PPV when you only show some ads the week of the fight.
Admittedly this fight was not marketed like their first two encounters. That being said, the fact this fight was projected by a high majority of people to be one-sided did not help the PPV numbers at all.
I mean, the fight was quite irrelevant at this stage and it was brought to you by DeAdZoNe. In excess of half a million buys is pretty good in that light.
In this day and age I really don't expect old school ppv numbers. An... uh... friend... told me.... that the stream he watched had 70k likes. That's 70k people watching it without paying. Obviously not every person is watching that would have payed, but certainly a sizeable amount are. I'll be surprised if this got more than 650k.
Can we stop calling Canelo a draw now? The Bivol fight didn't do well either and at one point DAZN would only approve certain opponents. AJ is the cash cow of the sport, even with 3 losses. Maybe this will stop the everyone trying to be Mayweather and protect their 0 craze.
It wont especially with the American Crowd as the Brainwash is now gone too deep & to be honest it's not just their 0 it's the feeling of knowing everyone has seen you lose to someone else & that they can pull it up anytime to bring you back down, The New Age of social media lame's & so called Twitter Journalists.
I don't know if AJ is a cash cow any more. What would his PPV numbers be against 'a top 15 fighter' on DAZN? Without Sky I can't see him doing big numbers at all unless it was with Fury, Wilder or Usyk.
