as they immediately squashed the beef with mutual love & respect for one another As if they beat the animosity out of each other like a Gatti Ward type scenario.
For what it is worth my understanding is it did 850k US buys and the rest were outside of US. from what I am told traditional US PPV platforms take a 35-45% cut depending on fight and provider. DAZN currently take 20-25% which will likely change once platform has grown sufficiently. It’s the only platform that can offer worldwide PPV service on one platform thus increasing revenue on major fights. On top of this they are selling subscriptions on top of the PPV the economics are slightly more advanced but they also give fighters a cut of subs generated. Let’s say the fight generated 150k new subscribers for DAZN the average subscriber takes 7 months to cancel a subscription service they do not require any longer. Let’s say they only cost it at a 4 month cancellation rate. At $19.99 x 150k x 3 that’s an additional $12m dollars in revenue a PPV fight generated the platform. The buys and subs is because you have to buy a sub with the PPV if you don’t already have it. So just from a random viewpoint. There’s lots saying the fight lost money. It really did not. On top of that when did a US fight last do these number?
I was wondering why the hell there wasn't more promo for the event and before we knew it the fight was upon us. Couple that with there not being as much interest in this particular matchup and youve got a recipe for a flop lol.
These numbers are a bit better than I was expecting. Dude coming off a loss against a 40yo on an unfamiliar platform.
