Canelo GGG mess. Who is to blame for 2017

The unfortunate thing for Golovkin will be that despite all the undeserved hype at this point, he will very likely be remembered as a stepping stone for one of these young MW entering the scene, including young Canelo.

A what could have been fighter. We all know them, but only remember them for 2 or 3 era's and then practically forgotten.

He didnt answer when opportunity Knocked with Ward, and he may make the same mistake with Canelo.

Golovkin will finish his career as a middleweight legend, a throwback fighter who took on all comers at 160 and conquered all in devastating style. Hopefully he will then move up, re-match Jacobs at 168, then S.O.G. which win or lose will cement his legacy.

Canelo will be remembered for surrendering his belt (& dignity) to Golovkin and being embarrassed by Mayweather and epitomising all that is wrong with boxing in the modern era - A-side Bsh!T, weight draining fighters, re-hydrating to bully smaller men, 'marinating' fights, etc.

Once the GGG era at 160 is over, don't get your hopes up that it will be Canelo's time because there are a good half dozen fighters at MW other than Golovkin who will smoke him for fun. But he probably just stays at 155 or is it 164.5, whatever Caneloweight is these days.

"Remember that Russian guy from the 10's who supposedly matched Bernard Hopkins' MW defenses?" -Uh, no.

Who remembers Winky Wright (the ONLY name not on ODLHs resume) refusing 6 million dollars, three times his biggest payday, to fight him?

I think they are both playing games back and forth. It will backfire eventually. This is what GGG needs to do because Golden Boy will do what's best at the current time.

GGG need to fight Saunders in June. Try and become undisputed champ in the MW division. Fight one or two more fights to match or beat Hopkins record for title defenses. He should do this for his legacy. No matter what people say, defending a belt that many times is tough.
After he unifies and beats the record he should fight Canelo in May 2018. That way they have over a year to promote the fight. GGG will have all the belts. The fight would be more than marinated and GGG will be 36. What else can everyone want? I know GGG wants to fight Canelo before he turns 36 but sometimes when the otherside controls the market, you have to followed their lead. I think at that point the fight will do really well.

 

Yes to everything ??? Hes the guy risking everything???? Is this Oscar De La Hoya in disguise or something.. Hes at the end of his career, he wants his fair payday, hes also got all the relevant belts at middle and has been the most dominant fighter at middle for years...I'm surprised people show their loyalty to Canelo still. Hes made mugs of you's since he threw the belt.

To be honest, I think it's becoming kinda like the Ward situation in the sense that both fighters probably want the fight themselves but promoters are basically trying to either squeeze every cent out of it or trying to protect their future earning potential by avoiding a very dangerous fight.

In this particular instance, I feel like GBP are throwing down more hurdles. The money discussions can always be worked around but this nonsense about GGG fighting in June damaging the chances of a fight is absolute nonsense. There's a month between that and Canelo's freakshow against Chavez Jr ffs, it would still give more time to promote than May-Pac had! And he'd be fighting the winner for every belt at 160 which is surely a larger prize?

I don't know, I just wouldn't be surprised to hear Canelo-Lemieux get made for September. Or Canelo-Any fighter without good movement.
