Yet the true MW King is an inferior fighter to Canelo.

Think about it like this. If Canelon retired today at 26 yrs of age, he would be ranked higher all time than 34 year old GGG. Let that sink in.

You forgot to add that noone knows how the 190lb Chavez Jr is going to look trying to make 164.

    This is a CW fight.
ol Yeller will only have to burn off 12-15lbs to make 164.
Chavez Jr gonna have to take off 25-30 lbs.

Chavez Jr is slowish at 168 vs the likes of Vera and Britsch.

How's he going to look boiling down.

This can certainly backfired if Jr is in camp as we speak and come in like he did vs Lee.

But this should be a walk in the park if Jr is rolling a spliff right now, and counting the days til his drug test.

This is the biggest fight, the richest fight, possibly the most important fight on JCCjr's career.

I'm pretty sure he wants to be at his best when he fights in front of his biggest Mexicsn Audience ever. If he comes in in any shape other than best JCCjr deserves to be KTFO.

Do you think if it wasn't for Chavez's daddy, he be as relevant as he is?

Probably not, but nevertheless, he's a proven world level fighter, undisciplined at times, but world level and two divisions north from wher Canelo last fought.

I don't think it's fair to call any boxer in general someone with a glass heart. It takes a LOT of guts to just step into a ring, let alone against world class opposition.

I'm not thrilled with how Oscar has handled his career the past couple years post-Lara, but I can't imagine Alvarez himself is scared of fighting anyone, regardless of how moot his chances are of actually winning. He has almost 50 pro bouts now and the last 10 have mostly come against good/great competition.

His only issue IMO is he should've never stayed at MW after beating Cotto. It should've been a one time deal and he should've vacated immediately afterwards. That Khan fight and the subsequent post fight interview he had inside the ring really hurt his overall perception.

    50k Live gate attendance.
    Biggest PPV fighter atm.
    Still a young fighter.

I think he will be fine.

Personally, I think he's a wonderful fighter just entering his absolute prime. He should really enjoy the next 2-3 years of his career.

All the things you mentioned are great and can't be refuted, but that has nothing to do with his overall public perception at the moment. Personally i don't think he should be coerced into a fight with Golovkin, but Alvarez did put his foot in his mouth with those post fight comments. He should've never invited Gennady into the ring- it's been a downward spiral for Alavarez' public perception ever since.

I personally thought he should have at least 2-3 fights with veritable MW's before jumping in with someone of Gennady's ilk.

Canelo is a proven elite fighter. One fight at 160+ should be enough for him, if they want two, I can't be mad.

I like Canelo but he surrendered himself to be a puppet for Oscar. Oscar's BS is so blatant and disrespectful to the boxing public. Canelo built his rep by being a warrior but Oscar has reduced him to a commodity. The Khan and Smith fights were atrocious B level fights regardless of the outcome. Now he got him at 165 trying to milk the Mexicans out of their hard earned cash. If the fight does well in numbers, he will try and milk it for a second fight with the promise of a GGG fight after that. I can understand getting money but there is no shame in Oscars game.

I can't help to chuckle a bit at your ignorant comment about Mexicans. For the "mexicans" this fight in a way is like a dream come true. This fight was highly anticipated when both fighters were coming into the scene. Then with JCCjr forced to move all the way to SMW and Canelo fighting at SWW, , their contracts with rival Mexican TV Networks, the dream begin to die.

Lo and behold, we got it. It may not mean much in terms of legacy but Im sure it will be an extremely popular fight between the two most popular names in Mexican boxing, on a Mexican holiday.

You bet your ass there's gonna be a piñata on every corner of every street from the South West U.S. to the bottom tip of Mexico this Cinco de Mayo. Lol

He is a brutal KO away from his career being over. It is that simple. Oscar knows this.

I can't help but chuckle at your ignorant interpretation of my post. My post is not about Mexicans in general but about Oscar and how he is playing Canelo. It's a circus fight and it don't do a dam thing to boost Canelo's legacy. It's a good fight for sales but not for boxing. Then again, you playing the Mexicans cheap like they don't know sh#t about boxing. Canelo has lost a lot of clout by not taking the GGG fight and a great deal of Mexicans will be watching that fight hoping that Chavez knocks his ass out. It's a blatant money grab by Oscar and while I can't knock a man for getting paid, I just don't like the way he went about it.
