Hearn isn't running DAZN. It's funded by hedge funds and controlled by former American TV executives. They obviously want to create a sport based version of Netflix with subscriptions on a global scale.

Eddie Hearn will only be a small part of that but obviously if DAZN are investing on boxing that's great for him.

It would be a fantastic option in the UK. Champions league games on there and big boxing events, throw in a few other sports and it ends sky.

Huge amount of subs for the 2 months per year his fights are on, as he only fights twice per year.

DAZN still needs to get other golden boy fighters over to retain subs 12 months per year.

Eddie and matchroom will be an after thought if DAZN can attract most of the golden boy stable

I will tell you why I believe (as in just my average bloke opinion) Eddie isn't smiling

    1) Eddie was rumoured to have been given a potential 1 billion dollar deal from DAZN

    2) Uncle Frank said it wasn't a real billion dollar deal. Young Edward was given a set amount for the 1st year, and if successful there was options to extend the deal a further few years etc. The potential for 1 billion over 8 years was there but zero guarantees.

    3) Young Edward has signed Zero big names to Matchroom USA. Even Juicy J is negotiating on a fight by fight basis and as he fights in the UK the time zone difference means he won't fill prime time slots. DAZN has signed a massive name Canelo as well as Golden Boy fighters some of whom like Ryan Garcia and Jaime Munguia could be megastars in there own right. They also have WBSS which is potentially a great subs gainer in its own right. Plus obviously the 2nd biggest MMA organisation in the business.

Add these together and DAZN doesn't seem to NEED Mismatchroom USA especially given the poor level of cards they have put on.

    3) DAZN is over paying all of these entities. They realise the need to attract subs and the way they can quickly achieve this is making DAZN a hot ticket.

Bellator is holding their end of the bargain. The grand prix tournaments have attracted lost of attention.

WBSS is a world class event obviously a must watch for boxing diehards

Mismatchroom has been all talk and delivered nothing. The 1st card got a pass because it was early doors and they hadn't signed any marquee names. Card 2 was meant to feature a great middleweight title belt but that has been cancelled and now we have one of the poorest cards you can imagine lol.

What I am trying to say is now that Golden boy has signed up the pot is getting empty. They won't be able to over pay forever. Even Young Edward said himself the time to jump on board is now before they get a foot hold in the market and can negotiate and low ball fighters.

Ffs a 50p fighter like Tevin Farmer is meant to be a multi millionaire in this deal lol. I guarantee the return on that investment won't be great lol.

Hearn being the weakest link in the DAZN stable will mean he is the 1st to get chopped lol.

What are your thoughts and how is Golden Boy jumping in going to help Eddie.

Right now the UK is not the right move for them. Lots of sports all tied up to sky in multi year deals

Maybe they will launch in the UK in a few years. Still they may not, being a new sports network in the UK is tough and as others have found taking on sky is not easy and is very expensive. (Disney owned ESPN) wanted no part of it and BT are painfully realising you can't go crazy paying for sports rights.

I will say this though. If DAZN were to launch and they managed to get champions league and premier league you can forget about it being £9.99

Hopefully by the time the next round of bids comes around it could be an option for DAZN or something similar.
Would be interesting to see where Hearns loyalties would be.

People trying to paint this as bad news for matchroom are idiotic. The platform they are on has now just become big time rather than some new boy streaming service.

There is now way this is bad for Eddie. When Eddie is trying to bring new signings on board and the fighters say "well who fights on DAZN?" Now he can say Canelo, AJ and Usyk. Do you think Hearn would ever have expected to sign Canelo when he got the call from DAZN initially.

He also said he was speaking to Canelo in an interview a week or two ago so I doubt he had no part to play.

You could pretty much get every sport in UK including football (excluding EPL) and charge £9.99 a month and make money. Nearly all the Sky/BT Sports subscription costs go to pay for the overrated and overhyped Premier League.

I agree it seems great news for Hearn and Matchroom. People have went from DAZN and Hearn will fail to they have no chance of signing Canelo to now saying when he has signed its terrible news for Hearn. As you say it is great news when signing new talent, will open floodgates.

Couldn't agree more mate. Eddie could have a stable of Spence, Crawford, Canelo, GGG, Usyk and AJ and people would find a way to **** on him - it's cringeworthy.

He also has a big competitor on DAZN who will be looking to get as much money as possible. Surely that will force them both to put on good shows! Can only be beneficial for the fans!

It’s great news for DAZN - nobody is saying otherwise. What myself and some of the others are saying is that this weakens Eddie’s own position and standing on the platform.

GBP are a far bigger, more recognised promotional company in the US and they’ve now got their own shows on the platform.

That’s Canelo, Munguia, Ryan Garcia, Linaires etc - all bigger stars then what Hearn has so far signed (US based)

HBO leaving the sport has really messed things up for Eddie (Not DAZN). I said it would, but that was because I assumed Canelo would sign for Showtime, which would lead to Danny Jacobs etc probably calling up Al Haymon to jump ship.

What happens when Eddie’s initial deal is up in a few years? What type of money is he going to be able to get...
