It was a close fight and no one got screwed. Both looked unimpressive and both didn't deserve to win, get over it. All this talk about Golovkin being a KO King that will devour Alvarez like he devours all the bums he fought turned out to be trash.

Well we could have learnt a lot more about both of them if either fought Billy Joe.

12-0 and still WBO King and New undisputed middleweight champion of the world

Very much how I saw it and doesn’t it speak volumes when we say GGG was pretty poor and yet we had him 116-112 on the cards lol.
Such is the standards that we hold him by that even a four rounds points win over Canelo is seen as poor and for that reason I expect Gennady to perform better whilst I don’t see Canelo doing anything else than what he did.
Good point from Dwyer on YouTube about Golovkin punching power when he said “when have you ever seen Canelo on his bike and backing up like he did in that fight”.

It's a great fight, and I don't think that the top dogs of a division fight each other enough anymore. I miss the days when the best would fight trilogies. This one and done attitude is very dismissive of how many things can change fight to fight and the results can be all over the place. For instance, I thought that Golovkin won the fight 8-4 last time despite the majority of rounds being close. Golovkin was just a bit better most rounds. Now, it's been a year, he's had more time to decline.

There's only been 6 instances of a 36+ year old fighter beating a p4p guy who's in their prime in boxing history. I'm a big believer in mathematical probability and the statistics don't lie. There's a huge physical drop off once a fighter turns 35. The number of times this particular feat has been pulled off by a fighter is rarer than going 50 and 0 in pro fights. The chances of Golovkin winning this next one would be obscure, except possibly in the age of performance enhancing drugs, which accounted for 2 of the 6.

If Golovkin somehow pulls off this miracle, he joins the ranks of Ray Robinson, Archie Moore, Dick Tiger, Floyd Mayweather, and Bernard Hopkins.

When we look at some of the best middleweights and their reigns, they don't go past 35. Monzon ruled from age 28 to age 35. Hagler held it from 26 to 32. Greb defended his title from 29 to 32. These guys make modern middleweights like Hopkins and Martinez look mighty suspicious hanging around for so long; so I don't rule out the possibility that Golovkin could be on something that would help him beat Canelo.

Another way to look at it is that Golovkin's already had a long reign. It probably deserves to be rated back to 2014 when Sergio retired. If you look at the average length of middleweight title reigns, most of them don't go more than one or two years. It looks like one or two defenses is typical before the crown changes hands, and Golovkin has been king for a long time in boxing years. It's time.

Meh, between Oscar's total sleaziness and Canelo's cheating the fight just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Nothing against GGG, he has done nothing wrong, but I'm not nearly as excited for this one as I was for the last one.

GGG fought the best fight he could with what was in front of him.

If GGG decides to start faster in the rematch he's going to get lit up even more than in the first rounds of the first fight.

You say you don't see Canelo doing anything else? He just needs to work on his stamina and will be able to completely outbox GGG. When Canelo's energy was up he outboxed GGG, when he slowed down he allowed GGG to score points with the jab.

If you had GGG up by like 3 or 4 rounds. Your scoring criteria was Direction a fighter was moving and who looked busier. This is general masses scoring criteria added with not scoring defense.

    The actual scoring criteria is:
    EFFECTIVE AGGRESSION
    CLEAN PUNCHING
    DEFENSE
    RING GENERALSHIP

The only thing you can knock on Canelo’s performance was his conditioning. Other than that he nullified G’s best punches and limited G to a ****ing jab that supposedly landed 100+ times but barely damaged Canelo’s face while landing the best punches in the fight against Triple.

I get the tried and true “running” excuse but what excuse can you use against a gassed fighter standing right in front of you on the ropes?

In the rematch, G better come up with a more effective gameplan. I’m tired of this “monster” turned victim narrative with these HBO pushed fighters. GGG was supposed to annihilate Canelo. Now you bums play victims advocate. Just a bunch of excuse makers.

I guess owning the highest KO% in middleweight championship history is trash. Solid theory.

Undisputed? Wtf drugs are you on? Because he beat a guy in lesser fashion than GGG did? Ha.

It did look that way at times but this stamina thing is nothing new is it,ok standing in his corner against a duffer like Chavez but having to move all the time will tire him again.

I never gave him stick for moving as only idiot would stand and trade with GGG.

I called and asked NSAC to give Canelo a fair shake this time!
He got screwed last time by the Democrats Harry Reid, Clinton and Bob Bennett.
