Fight promoter Golden Boy declined to provide an official figure, but an industry source well connected to satellite and cable systems placed the buys “between 1 and 1.1 million, definitely” not in excess of 1.1 million.
Not a disaster but all sides need to ask themselves is a 3rd fight something people want to see. I think probably not.
What? Why would you even think of such a word? Two consecutive fights that grossed over 100million USD in revenue, each! And you ask if fans want a third fight? How out of touch are you with the numbers?
That’s actually significantly more than I thought, I will be surprised if these figures are true. Nevertheless I don’t wanna see a third one that’s a foregone conclusion in my eyes, they should leave the whole affair like this with both fight fighters giving a valiant effort and fighting as hard as they could.
I ain't saying the numbers are bad but the first did 1.3 mil, we then have 1.1 for the rematch and a third to me will go lower again. What does this number say for Wilder vs Fury estimates?
You do know that this one was more expensive? The first fight cost 79.99 and the second one was 84.99 (i believe those were for the SD, HD would have been extra 10bucks) So they "lost" about 10mil? They could do a third one and "loose" an additional 20mil and they would all be happy. Why? Because no other fight can get them such money. And supposedly hurricane Florence did a lot of damage. It is believable that they lost quite a few buys because of it.
