Canelo got punked by JCC JR on HBO Faceoff

Well the 155 argument against Golovkin holds no water, in my opinion. Canelo is naturally bigger than Golovkin as indicated by fight night weights. Golovkin is a MW....period. Making the MW champ go down to 155 is ridiculous, that's only 1 pound above the LMW limit. Now, Canelo goes up 5 pounds above the MW limit to fight Chavez? Honestly I feel like the only people who don't see how ridiculous this is, are delusional or Canelo fanboys.

Canelo fought above LMW against: Angulo, Kirkland, Lara, Cotto, and Khan. He defended his MW title against Khan at 155. Then went back down to LMW to fight Smith. I don't mind catchweights, but for starters, offering the MW champ to fight at 155 is not even a catchweight. You are making him go down to LMW essentially, a true catchweight would be 157 since it's right in the middle of MW and LMW. Secondly, Canelo is bigger than Golovkin, there is no need for a catchweight considering he just jumped 10 pounds to fight Chavez. Lastly, Canelo held a MW title. Golovkin held multiple MW titles. FIGHT AT MIDDLEWEIGHT!

 

Canelo will look even more ridiculous if he goes back to 154 or 155 now. This is a pivotal point in his career IMO and one where he must face GGG soon or at minimum an active fighter at 160.

Dragging Jr down and using his name to fluff your win record is a smart business move however true fans of the sport see this for what it is and it's not a REAL challenge

 

I agree Canelo can probably never go back down to LMW. If he wants to, he needs to fight the big names there. The only true top fighters Canelo has fought at a respective weight at Lara, Trout, and Floyd. He should be 1-2 in those fights. Not saying he isn't a stud, but I think Chavez poses a big challenge for him considering he is fighting a guy who is naturally bigger.

 

Jr is bigger however he has enough ring rust to dust a whole country right now. The other thing is the size advantage is almost completely negated by the weight drain of Jr.
I hope I'm wrong and that we see Canelo struggling for at least two rounds before he lands the KO on Jr
