I think GGG just waited for a big pay day. He was winning beating everyone in his division but never really got money until Canelo, and he was already older.

Maybe he would have dare d to be greater had he made more money earlier. But I agree, he did not prove himself much against tough opposition. Canelo has done it more.

I have the same opinion of Hagler. He's very overrated and his best wins are guys moving up.

Quite honestly as a Canelo fan I felt open scoring ruined the fight Canelo was winning in a competitive fight and after the knockdown could have legit stopped Trout but the judges had him so far ahead, he took it easy making the actual score closer than the fight could ans should have been. I do agree that that one oft wide score does leave a bad taste but being honest even the haters must admit.

If Canelo-Lara was score 7-5,7-5,5-7 SD for Canelo
Or if Canelo-GGG I was scored 7-5,6-6,5-7 draw
Or the rematch 7-5,7-5,6-6 for Canelo nobody would have a problem with him winning it's that one wide card that bring criticism and doubt.

You claimed GGG didn’t make the Lara fight due to not going down, although he was the champion and star of 160.

So should Lara who was none of the above moved to 160 to force the fight?

Lara is honestly in the same boat as GGG a guy who by his fans was claimed to be ducked but did nothing to actually force big fights. It's funny though out of all the fights that GGG could have had you only bring up Lara. Ward at 68 or Froch at 68 before he retired Cotto who wasnt a real MW offered to fight at a CW he refused. The list goes on.

Both Froch & Ward turned down fights with GGG. Froch claimed retirement. As for Ward he couldnt have made 168 at that time thats why he refused LOL

The only time GGG ever made mention of Froch was when he had been solidly retired after a year & Ward was when he couldn't fight and was dealing with legal issues, Ward offered GGG the same deal he offered Kovalev of 1 tune up fight and then a fight after and all the GGG stand balked saying who would accept a 2 fight deal, one which would have allowed GGG to still have his unification fight with Lemieux and fight Ward after. then when Ward offered Kovalev the deal everyone said he wouldn't agree when Kovalev agreed they said Ward would make excuses to not fight after his tune up and then after the 2 fights we all know the rest with the constant complaints. GGG has NEVER challenged himself it took a JMW wanting to be great moving up in weight for GGG for fight a true elite level fights in Canelo.

GGG officially turned down Ward after Lemieux, turned down Froch when he was still Active before Groves, Cotto at 155/6 after he beat Martinez, Canelo at 155/6 after Canelo beat Cotto, Lara at 154 in 2014/5 when he was spewing the 54-68 nonsense who would have been his best win at that point.

I personally WAS a GGG fan when he first came out but he makes too many excuses not to fight he ain't the man and never has been, Cotto took a calculated risk vs Martinez and came out on top, GGG could have taken a calculated risk vs Cotto at 156/7 and became Lineal and unified and been able to call the shots earlier.

My favorite current fighter is Canelo say what you want about controversies and close decisions, when they said he should duck Trout before Mayweather and fight on the undercard he said F-that did he own show with Trout and beat in, he took a risk and did a catchweight to face Mayweather, when they said he would never fought Lara he did and made him run like a track star the majority of the fight, he took a catchweight and less vs Cotto, moved up to face Chavez even if it was a showcase, fought GGG when no one said he would then rematched him and beat him down when everyone said he lost, fought Jacobs and out boxed him when ppl said he would lose, and is moving up to fight one of the most devastating LHW's of this generation and somehow to diminish it people are calling it a cherry pick... like Charlo or Andrade is a better opponent or win than Kovalev on top of that Canelo will likely end up fighting a Charlo o a C.Smith or a Bitovl wayyyyy before GGG because unlike GGG Canelo has shown HEART GGG ain't shown nothing except being able to blow away average kirkland level fighters like Canelo does and struggles vs the few semi top level opponents he's fought its only been 3 in what 37 fights and he struggled vs all 3 Brook,Jacobs and Canelo..

in the iconic words of Micheal B Jordan's "Killmonger" "Is This Your King" lol.
