I must be in the minority as I feel Lara allowed himself to lose to canelo by stepping off the gas late.

He was dominated by Mayweather and Bivol, as were many other guys. I felt he lost to Lara although admittedly it was a close fight. He clearly lost the first GGG fight and the scoring was yet again disgraceful.

The second fight was a toss up and Canelo getting the nod was not a robbery. Based on that he has in fact defeated the number 1 guy in a division, and I think his performance in the second GGG fight was quite impressive. He’s overrated by the fanboys, but there’s no denying he’s still a great fighter. Him ducking Benavidez though is inexcusable.

    (Yawn.)

Benavidez isn't the #1 fighter at super middleweight, Canelo is.

Also, Canelo beat "the man" at 154, at 160, at 168 and the #2 guy at 175.

    * Canelo beat "the man" and 154-pound World Champ Charlo in his last fight.
    * Canelo beat "the man" and 160-pound World Champ Cotto.
(He also beat the #1 ranked "man" at middleweight in Golovkin.)
    * Canelo beat "the man" and 168-pound World Champ Smith.
(He also beat the other two undefeated super middleweight champs - Saunders and Plant.)

    * Canelo beat the #2 ranked Light heavyweight at the time in Kovalev.
(Beterbiev was #1 at the time. Canelo became #2. Bivol became #1 when he beat Canelo.)

A list of "the men" remaining are Crawford three divisions below him at 147 and the winner of Bivol-Beterbiev at 175.

He's beaten the other "men" in the division's he's competed in.

Long story short ... not overrated.

    If he's overrated, everyone is.

I'm guess guess OP was one of the guys who betted on Saunders to win against Canelo.

David wasn't # 1 at SMW, Callum was actually # 1 and the ring champion when Canelo beat him so I agree with you in part, but he did at least beat one # 1 guy.

It's weird to me how Canelo can beat the undefeated Ring/lineal champ and all the reigning undefeated champs in a division like 168 ...

and people say that's not good enough because he hasn't fought his latest WBC mando yet.

But they don't hold the WBC mando Benavidez (who never unified, never beat the lineal champ, never even knocked off/beat a reigning alphabet champ for a belt, hell, couldn't even bother to make weight to keep his belt or get his **** together) to the same standard.

Benavidez has been a pro for 11 years and hasn't beaten any reigning champ. Ever.

And he's "the man" ... not Canelo? To hell with that.

Yeah I always thought that was what belts were for, but this site has taught me over the years that we can appoint titles and worthiness at will lol.

Probably, seems like he’s got a thing against Canelo. He’s a great fighter although I will admit to being critical of him for several decisions he’s made in his career.

Charlo was the unified World/Ring Champion at 154, Canelo beat him last time out.

Cotto was the Ring Champion at 160 and Golovkin was the #1 contender at 160. Canelo defeated both, too.

Smith was the Ring champion and held two belts, Plant and Saunders had the other two. Canelo beat them all.

He's beaten the best fighter in three divisions.

And he beat the #2 guy at 175.

Who was rated higher than Charlo at 154 when Canelo beat him? Nobody.

Who was rated higher than Cotto or Golovkin at 160 when Canelo beat them? No one (except, in Golovkin's case, Canelo was the world champ and rated higher than Gennady.)

Who was rated higher than Smith at 168 when Canelo beat him? No one.

Who was rated higher than Kovalev when Canelo beat him? Just Beterbiev.

So he "didn't at least beat one #1 guy" ... he beat the top guy/guys in three separate divisions, and the #2 in a fourth.

You can admit it because it happened.
