the funny thing is...golovkin fans accuse his haters of flip flopping on an oppnent...they say the guy gets called a bum after the fight...but it always hyped to be the man to beat him(not realizing most of the time they are likely being trolled as most favor golovkin over most mws)

Made up weights? Get with the program dude. Weights in the ring are no fairytale. Guys like Alvarez who weighs in at 154 and comes into the ring at 175+ are not made up. 24 hr weigh ins were introduced around 30 years ago because too many guys were dying from not having enough time to rehydrate. Main event fighters get around 30hrs to rehydrate. If Alvarez was around in the old days he would never have fought below 160 in his last 12 fights. He has been at least a mw who has chosen to fight at 154 to have a size advantage over his opponents. He has never fought a guy who was bigger or at least the same size as him. Boxing has weight divisions for a reason. It is unfair to have a weight advantage. Abuse of the 24hr weigh in is out of control and rules need to be introduced to curb it.

Oh for sure Canelo has always had an amazing ability to make weight and pile it on come fight night and you're right he's never fought anyone his own size,bit of an unknown I've always thought he'd better at 160 without the weight cut he ought to have more in the tank but should be interesting to see him against Chavez,Lemieux etc as there does appear a difference in weight of shot from 154 to 160.

Weight wise if he can't make 154 then he's a middleweight and I've always thought he'll be better for it,as the op says though it's the step up in his opponents size which is the potential killer as at 160 his days of having the size advantage are over.

 

Trout, Lara, Smith are all much taller than Canelo with much longer reach.

Canelo would be stoked to be 5ft8, the guy is clearly shorter than Floyd and basically the same height as Cotto.

Canelo being so short obviously looks very robust. 165-170 on a 5ft7 guy looks a lot different to 165-170 on a 5ft9-10 guy

Chris Eubank Jr, GGG and Danny Jacobs are real 180 lbs guys and they are freaking huge compared to iddy biddy Canelo.
