Golovkin is a very good fighter. Very talented and gifted. But lets be real here. If GGG had Canelo's resume and Canelo Golovkin, Canelo wouldn't be where he is today in the sport, and rightfully so.

But the reality is, that Canelo is a fighter who has worked his way from the very bottom to reach the highest pinnacles. No prestigious Amateur career, started fighting pro at 15 years of age, has compromised weight, and purse to get the fights the fans want made, and taken on some of the best fighters despite if they are high risk/low reward. Much props to fighters like Canelo. They are not as common nowadays.

These Golovkin clowns really take it personal. Its comical really.

No I was amazed when Cotto won, I love a good upset so it pleased me.

What's wrong with your post is it didn't address anything in my post yet was quoting my post.

I don't care what nonsense anyone spews but I don't understand why your post was wholly unrelated to mine.

I never pretended I haven't seen anything. I just don't care what fanboys of fighters have to say unless they're saying it to me, which you was.

Canelo nor Jacobs are too big for Golovkin I've honestly no idea what you had to gain from posting that.

Canelo is not a top 5 p4p fighter in any list I've seen, I've honestly no idea what you had to gain from posting that.

Canelo can no longer be considered champion since he no longer considers himself a champion so I've no idea how that can change between now and any potential fight.

I'd much rather see a rematch with Jacobs than Canelo anyways, but whatever floats your boat kid.

You truly are a weirdo Isal. You're the king of getting emotional and hysterical to defend your hero, you're the first to resort to namecalling as soon as you hear anything negative towards your favourite fighter, and now you make an alt account and find the nerves to criticise others for the same? It's sad dude.

I give Canelo a ton of credit up to the Cotto fight. His last 3 fights have been quite a let down. He is in a position to literally pick and choose who he fights. Instead he picks 2 very low risk fights that were on no one's radar in fights people want to see. Even tonight's fight though it's going to be a big event given the date, it still means nothing to the boxing landscape.

That quote about not being ready to move up to 160 was back in Oct 2015, that's a year and a half ago. This is his first fight north of 154/155. He took the Cotto fight because it was the biggest fight out there for him and Cotto was a guy his size. He didn't take that fight to start fighting Middleweights. That's why tonight's fight is so exciting, becuase you're finally getting to see what you wanted to see last year, a real natural Middleweight in Chavez, not only that but a guy that actually became so big he actually outgrew the Middleweight division.

I don't know why it's so hard to understand that back in Oct 2015 Canelo wasn't ready to start fighting natural Middleweights at 160. That was a big ask. You don’t see too many 154-lbers moving up to fight natural Middleweights at 160. It's a huge step up to start fighting bigger guys than you are when you're used to fighting welterweights or 154-lbers. He fought big names like Cotto and Khan, guys that were his size. (Khan was a welterweight coming up, but in terms of height and reach matched up size-wise with Canelo)

He needed a few more fights vs guys his size at or just above Jr Middleweight before making the move up to fight natural 160-lbers. In this case, he’s daring to be great by fighting Chavez a guy who actually outgrew Middleweight. It’s a big mental adjustment to do something like this and he just wasn’t ready to do that back when he fought Cotto. He got those few more fights vs guys his size and true to his word, now he’s moving up to take on guys that are naturally bigger than him.

He wanted to continue fighting guys his size rather than fight guys bigger than him. Cotto was his size, Khan was a naturally big welterweight who was the same height as Canelo, Liam Smith was his size. Chavez is way bigger than him, he towers over him lol. I can see how those last few fights were a let down to you wanting to see him fight Triple G. But the first of those last 3 fights, Cotto, was a fight that evreryone wanted to see so I don't see how you can say him fighting Cotto was a let down. This fight means a lot to the boxing landscape because it's the first time we've seen Canelo fight a natural Middleweight, a guy that will outweigh him on the night and a guy that is much bigger than him physically. Depending on how it goes, it could set up a Canelo vs Triple G Middleweight unification fight in September, so this is a very important fight for many reasons.

I know top popular fighters get scrutinised more so than other fighters, it comes with the territory. But if anyone deserves a couple easy fights, its fighters like Canelo who own one of the best resumes currently.

Canelo is a durable little bulldog. His punch resistance at MW should not be an issue, under reasonable circumstance of course.

Ok--let me be clear since I might have typed it wrong--
He gets full credit up to and including the Cotto fight--

    vs. Cotto
Besides this being a BS catchweight fight for the title, it was a big fight for the MW title of the world. However, Canelo took that fight KNOWING GGG would be his mandatory. Now GGG holds some blame for taking step aside money but he was the mandatory all the same.

    vs Khan
Canelo took this fight as the agreed upon Interim fight that GB and K2 agreed to with the blessing of the WBC. Canelo could have fought ANY active MW. Instead they match him up with a chinny WW. And I don't care if they were "almost the same size". Khan has been a joke for awhile. What are his best wins at WW?

    vs Smith
So instead of his mandatory, Canelo drops his title to avoid the purse bid and goes back down to 154. Great. But this guy wasn't ranked anywhere on anyone's top 154 list. Again, Canelo had his choice of fights here. But another light touch.

    Vs JR
Great event and great money fight. But he's draining a guy who hasn't been this light in years. And who hasn't been taken as a serious fighter in years either due to his own lack of discipline. Huge money fight, but doesn't mean anything.

    Whats next:
First--a rematch has already been floated with JR largely depending on what happens tonight. And I think its likely to happen as well. Jr is big and can take some shots so this might be a blood and guts type fight that people will pay to see a rematch. And as I have mentioned in a previous post, What if Canelo decides he feels his best now at 164? What if he feels stronger and performs at his best? Add a rematch or even a trilogy with Jr and Canelo may never return to MW. And you can't deny that this is at least within the realm of possibility if you consider he may fight Jr again at 164/65.

Which brings me to my final point and we have disagreed on this in a previous post. Canelo is no longer the lineal champ so a possible fight with GGG would not be a unification. Canelo has now fought twice (counting tonight) outside of the MW division. One of those was for a title fight. He has left the division and may not ever return. Others in boxing including Big Dan believe this as well.

    OK I was wrong

Canelo isn't quite the Floyd impersonating A side character I thought he was and tbh It is not deniable he is clearly a natural middleweight now.

He definitely deserves criticism for ducking 160 and GGG as after looking at the weigh in, he was still very low bf and that was 4lbs over, he was nowhere near as dry as @ 154 but still will clearly rehydrate well above 170 fight night, more likely 175ish IMO which is a big middleweight.

JCC Jr looked pretty bloody Auschwitz like, hopefully he gets some good stuff in him, so we will see what he looks like in the ring I expect him to be huge hopefully in the ring more like 185lbs

Hopefully Jr can bring it and up his work rate, saw a stat they both average 40 punches per round according to compubox, Jr needs to throw 60+ and he needs to lay on Canelo all night
