It's going to come down to how Alvarez can handle Golovkin's elite jab. If he can slip / counter it, he may have some sort of a chance. Otherwise (and this is far more likely) GGG cracks that defence open and batters him to rubble.

This. Canelo has a bad habit of waiting too long to fire, which allowed Floyd to beat him to the punch. Cotto also did this at times, but also gave away too many rounds fighting off the ropes. If he tries to wait and counter GGG it's going to be a long night for Canelo. Canelo needs to let his hand go, but also fire off combinations, since single shots don't do much to GGG. Jacobs had minor success when he landed combos on GGG, but the single shots didn't do much of anything.

 

You just named two all time great fighters he had trouble with. GGG is not on either of their levels.
