Somebody asked Abel about lack of body shots and he said there was an occasion he tried and as Canelo was on his bike it him in the back and the Ref warned him about it,to be sure Golovkin would of known were he to have any points deducted he certainly lose

The only thing that is gonna help canelo get the W is if Oscar gets a 3rd judge. Oscar paid 2 judges last time and the best canelo could get was a draw.

You guys better hope Canelo is not able to accomplish this task, if both fighters come in with a similar gameplan all Alvarez needs is a higher gas tank to win convincingly. Canelo has legit shown subtle improvements in every fight. if the first GGG fight win, lose,or draw was/is the turning point that makes Canelo serious with conditioning he will be a problem for years at 160 and could be argued as one of the most complete fighters in the sport.

Even if Canelo didn't win the first fight, it's OK for him to think he won. Because confidence (even self-confidence) plays huge part in boxing. And he's actually talking sense about improving his conditioning — that might work. I won't be surprised at all if he wins convincingly indeed this time.
But for me the main question is — will Golovkin be able (actually is he able at all) to adjust?? I want to see different GGG.

    It's funny isn't it?

After the fight, i could've swore i watched Canelo in his corner, a mixture of expressions ranging from emotionless to depression, looking like he knew right there and then that he had lost the fight.

He was just there, no smile....no celebration....just acceptance.

Then he heard that phrase...."We have a split decision".

"OMG", he thought.....Goldenboy have done it, I must raise my hands and act like I won the fight.

I wonder if Canelo has stated which rounds he scored for himself to win that fight by 2 rounds? Maybe he threw a couple of 10-8 rounds in there for himself. He knows he lost, we all know he lost, we all said Golovkin would have to knock him out to get a win and it proved to be the case.

I think Canelo scored himself points for being on the back foot for 8 of the 12 rounds....I must admit His Reverse Gear is something of Beauty...one of the best I have seen...

Pretty sure he gave himself 1-3, 10-12, and 4-9 were all close.

I tend to agree with this. One of the reasons Golovkin is a stamina monster is because he fights at a measured pace and does the absolute minimum to avoid incoming punches. Canelo's defence is more pronounced and therefore more entertaining, but I think it costs him a bucket of energy to maintain. Flurrying also costs more energy than straight punches.

Canelo's in a catch 22 because if he wants to stand his ground vs GGG he's going to need all the mass he can get, and the muscle is going to cost him stamina. On the other hand if he wants to fight off the backfoot and increase his stamina, dropping a few lbs of muscle will help him do that (imho) but he will find it harder to go toe to toe.

I'm looking forward to the rematch immensely.

Golovkin didn't really get out of first gear until the 4th round. One could also argue that all GGG has to do is go hard from the first round and Canelo will crumble. Let's not forget, as well, that Golovkin showed up to camp with the beginnings of a tyre around his waist. He could be argued to have room for improvement in the stamina department as well.

I have been more than fair toward Canelo then most GGG fans on here. What I saw was a close 7-5 fight that could have went either way. I have given Canelo credit for his movement and defense which no one on here saw coming pre fight. Not even Canelo fans predicted the kind of footwork Canelo showed. I have also given Canelo for landing the biggest punches of the fight.

Funny you bring up the Hopkins fight. She scored that 7-5 right. Very close fight. Hmmm--maybe she just has a bias for Golden Boy fighter then?

"But unlike Byrd, I tried to be fair to Golovkin and I can see these rounds scored either way depending on what you prefer." That kinda sums it up for me--Byrd was not fair to GGG. You are pointing out her history as a judge and citing one specific fight who was also a GB fighter. But you are ignoring all the other Canelo fights where there always seems to be one judge that is wider than the others or not even close--but you defend those as well. But I see those other fights as a pattern as well.

We are never going to agree on Canelo. I think he is a good, but protected fighter. I see a fighter who is always looking to game the system or have some sort of advantage.
