Canelo is no coward.

Though I see the merit in contesting lineal title fights only at the full weight, Canelo is asking GGG to do absolutely nothing different than what Canelo did against Mayweather, which is take himself to an uncomfortable weight for the huge payday and megafight.

Canelo walked the same walk he's asking GGG to take, so there's no calls of cowardice or hypocrisy from me. GGG should take the fight and, even though K2 should try like hell to negotiate for something above 155 because it's their jobs, Golovkin should take it if 155 is the only way to get the fight to happen. Just like Canelo did wth Floyd.

 

You cant forget GGG calling out a man 2 divisions lower , then try to defend GGG calling for a catchweight against Ward, while pursuing fights at 168 against Chavez Jr and Froch.. It doesnt make sense.

That's what it's called, dictating terms and paying your dues. PBF had to pay his dues when he fought Oscar on his terms Canelo did the same with PBF now GGG must do the same with Canelo if he wants the fight.

 

Lol, why are you deflecting with some other nonsense now, what Canelo is doing is FAR worse than what GGG did against Ward and these things are not at all the same like you guys are trying to make out, do you agree with this?

 

You're a goddamn fool if you think GGG would make more money in his PPV fight with Lemieux, which at this point is his career high payday than he would vs Ward. If you really believe this I don't know what to say.

Those reports that Canelo is only willing to fight GGG at 155 are fabricated. Hes been on record many times stating he'd be willing to fight GGG at the full limit of 160, so it really is a non issue. But defending GGG for calling for a CW with Ward while pursuing fights with Froch and Chavez Jr at 168 really is cringe worthy..

 

Bingo. I'm a big fan of GGG, but that doesn't mean a free pass automatically comes his way. He and K2 would be making a huge mistake if a Canelo fight crumbles because of the weight issue, fair or not. It's the biggest fight out there for him and he's not in the position to call shots.

However, in the meantime, I expect K2 to fight that request tooth and nail publicly even if they'll concede 155 at the end.

 

I don't have to like it, but it is what it is and there's a history of it in boxing. Something tells me Floyd, Canelo, Cotto, and every other boxer who's done it/will do it would happily trade the asterisk we assign to the win the for increased odds of winning and a fat check cashing.

 

Drenlou, I'm not defending it, I think what GGG did was BS and I said that at the time but that was dubious, not very sporty and deserved critique, however this is plain unacceptable and shouldn't be allowed. What Pimp C said about this being a double standard, it isn't, even if I did defend GGG for asking CW from Ward.

The only double standard I'm seeing is from people who have HEAVILY criticized GGG for asking a man who's not even in his division a CW, are now defending a Canelo who's asking CWs from contenders in his own division.

 

Yes, he is, and he is a stupid coward. He can still lose to Cotto, so there would be no need to display his cowardice.
