If he wins he is the most popular guy in boxing. If he loses then 10 years from now people will go "He is 65-1, he lost to Mayweather that was 10 years ago he was only 23 at the time and not even in his prime yet".
How is a hypothetical of Canelo bringing Ward down a full 10 pounds below 168 comparable to Canelo dropping two? He may step on the scales at 154 in the end anyway, maybe the 153 he did against Trout and pay the penalty if the cutting doesn't go as smoothly as planned.
Surprising that he took the catch-weight but isn't this what boxing about? He's challenging the best. That's what it's about. To me, that's more important than losing, at times. Many of the greats have lost. I rather see fighters take fights and tough challenges than be known as a ducker. This will also be a learning experience and if he loses, he lost to the best. There's no shame in that. This fight is GREAT for boxing and that's the most important thing, if you're a boxing fan. Would this fight have been made at 154 without the catch? Doubt it. Canelo compromised, and made this **** happen. I don't see Canelo winning but both deserve credit for at least giving fans what they want.
Floyd wouldn't take this fight without trying to drain Canelo. *****s have changed their minds on Catchweights. We've already seen plenty of nervous posts from *****s crying Floyd will get robbed and if Canelo wins it's cause FLoyd showed his age. Try again:deal
Even if he loses...he wins. He's young. Most likely he will lose, but will live to fight another day, and get paid A LOT of money, with much of his fan base intact. However, if he wins, he is an instant HOF'er, with wealth and opportunities beyond his wildest dreams. Tell us why he's an idiot again? :huh
Bet you anything you bitched about pac and cotto fighting at 145. Oh nevermind ***** I already know your answer, "nuhu I never said or thought anything negative about pac and his catchweights." Take floyds black **** out of your mouth.
if theyre both 154 fighters, then both should be affected by fighting @ 152. even trade PS: Canelo was the one that came up with 152 son.
Somebody's worried about an L...LMAO, and the way Canelo looked against Trout ya'll really think Cotto(the guy nobody has an easy fight against) would have been a "safer" bet. Dont get me wrong, I cant wait to see this fight, but Canelo has some major improvements to make in one single training camp.
Pretty much this. I think Canelo made a bad decision here. If Gomez made Canelo's boxing look bad, imagine what Floyd will do? Canelo saved Floyd here after the Guerrero flop. I hope he's making enough money for what is likely to be the first "L" on his record.
he is only 23 and has nothing to lose, really. I doubt Floyd will beat him as easily as he did the ghost.
