According to one of those UCN hosts, I think it was Steve Kim, there were a few reporters in the press box at Cotto-Canelo wondering if the ginger was on some junk based on how freakishly huge he looked. Apparently they'd never seen Caneo that big before, though it might have just been the optical illusion of fighting someone 15lbs smaller.

I haven't seen any fight night weight stats from Cotto-Canelo, but it has been documented that 3 years ago, he came in at 172 vs Trout, which is heavier than GGG's ever been.

Since people tend to fill out with age, and that was 3 years ago, 175-180 rehydrated weight is not implausible.

Theres zero reason to hide your fight night weight unless you have something to hide.

    (2012)

    Canelo 167 - Mosley 164

    Canelo 164 - Josesito 165

    (2013)

    Canelo 172 - Trout 171

    Canelo 165 - Floyd 150.5 - obviously contested at 152 though

    (2014)

    Canelo 171 - Lara 166

Canelo 174 - Angulo 170 - some sources say it was Canelo who weighed 170 and Angulo who was 174. Portly Dan and Kevin Iole both tweeted Canelo was 174 and Alfredo was 170.

    Fight night weights: Canelo 174, Angulo 170. #CaneloAngulo #boxing

    @KevinI
Canelo weighs 174 in the ring. Angulo is 170

    (2015)

Canelo ? - Kirkland ? Kirkland was 174 for Molina

Canelo ? - Cotto ? Roach said Cotto would come in at 166

Canelo was obviously at least 170 for Kirkland and Cotto

    (2012)

    Golovkin 168 - Proksa 166

    (2013)

    Golovkin ? - Nobuhiro Ishida ?

    Golovkin 170 - Macklin 170

Golovkin 167 - Rosado ? Not sure how much Rosado weighed but he was 175 for Quillin

Golovkin ? - Stevens ? Not sure what Stevens was coming in at at MW but he was 175 when Dirrell fought him, er. I mean spent the entire duration of the fight backpedaling around the ring from him petrified out of his mind like he was being pursued my Mike Tyson on PCP. But that was up at 168 though.

    (2014)

    Golovkin ? - Adama ?

Golovkin ? - Geale ? - Geale was 185 for Cotto and that was at a CW of 158

    Golovkin 173 - Rubio 181

    (2015)

    Golovkin ? - Murray ?

    Golovkin 170 - Monroe 172

    Golovkin 170 - Lemieux 175

    (2016)

    Golovkin 171 - Wade 175

None of this has anything to do with the weight of 155. 155, 157, 160 Canelo gets smashed by GGG. Oscar doesnt want him in with any of the top Middleweights, even though hes a world middleweight champ Alverez is not a top Middleweight.

They got their chance with their belt, they knew it was guna be a short run with it but they have run with it as far as they can. By summer the belt will be dropped.
