He has a bright future. He is improving probably hasn't reached his prime yet, good technically sound, good power, and aggressive.

He cheated JMM by not standing there and letting JMM hit him at will ala Pacquiao

great all around boxer, and willing to not use GBP to protect him. Lara, trout, mayweather...few up and coming fighters that are willing to be put up against these guys.
weight issue is ******ed, few fighters that have the ability/clout to control this don't use this and other tactics to their advantage.
even the best fighters (pac v. Bradley...) can get overconfident and use the wrong technique for the wrong fight, but this sport definitely needs more fighters like him, willing to risk a loss for a competitive fight.

As of right now Canelo deserves more hype and praise than guys like Thurman. He stands up for what he believes in, has gone looking to challenge the best ever since the Trout fight and he is only 23.

In my opinion with guys like Canelo, a lot of fans/boxers see him as someone who's career was born with a silver spoon. He had a fair amount of easy fights as well as fighting opponents from lower divisions throughout the bulk of his career, during which time he amassed a huge fan base and has become the A team in a lot of his fights when it comes to pulling gate numbers and revenue.

And now everyone wants him, because beating him equals high reward, so he doesn't really need to worry about being ducked. Funny thing is though, he has pretty much outdone most of the current crop of what some people call hype jobs and he is proving himself more and more every fight.

    good post
not unusual for Mexican fighters to be brought on before their time too. who wouldn't have loved to see Fernando vargas against Oscar and tito if he had more time to mature

Yeah Vargas had it rough, fighting through I think it was five knock downs against Tito before getting stopped in the twelfth. It must have been hell for a boxer that was still a 22 year old prospect.

I feel that Vargas only needed another 2-3 more years before stepping up, he just couldn't keep up the pace at his age and gassed towards the later rounds, the early rounds he had a lot of success against the top fighters which speaks volumes about his potential.

Those extra years would have also help him increase his skills, who knows what would have happened if things went different. Anyways back to Canelo, I'll be rooting for him over Lara, this fight Ginger is going to show us how slick he really is :bbb.

Canelo gets bashed because his resume is garbage, especially for a guy with 40-something fights. Floyd made him look like an amateur, and he beat a guy who was tailor made for him in Angulo.

No way brotha. Had he beaten Floyd, then yea, he'd be the new Sal Sanchez. For many during that time Gomez was p4p#1 and didn't give Sanchez much of a chance. Canelos gonna have to win and look more sensational than he has. He's going to have to fight like a legend. Canelo not there yet. By the time he's 26-27 MAYBE he might amount to what Sanchez did, but I doubt it.

How can people claim Canelo is protected, he fought Trout, Floyd and is now fighting Lara the guy will fight the best even if he won't win all of them.

even though i thought he loss to austin trout...i like him. i knew he'd lose to floyd. i think he may lose to lara....but i agree, he deserves props for taking on all these fights. i wish he would have stood his ground about fighting floyd at 154 instead of 152...but that was more about floyd than canelo.

i can't celebrate the fight against angulo too much. angulo looked shot from the beginning. i expect lara to be a tough fight. we'll see.

as for the kirkland and williams fights. kirkland turned it down because he had a bad shoulder. i thought williams was going to beat canelo. it's a shame that fight never happened. it would have been a good one.

Just goes to show there are all types of agendas out there. Few and far between are folks who can see thru their own bull**** and give an objective opinion nowadays.
