Canelo wouldn't last five minutes on the mean streets of Karaganda. The old women over there would whip the baddest hombres Guadalajara has to offer never mind their toughest men.

Golovkin was from one of the Toughest areas in Europe...a lot of so called thugs from the Hood would not last there....this is what Golovkin said about his younger life..

Golovkin said: "Karaganda is a crazy area, crazy city - very dangerous for normal life.

"I'd go with my friends to a soccer stadium and fight. A different boxing gym? Fight. Streets in different areas? Fight.
"The city I grew up in, 16, 17 years ago was quite dangerous. In these days it was a difficult situation for everybody.

"You had to show on the street who's the most powerful man, so if you go to the street, you had to fight against everybody, so to speak. This was my childhood, when I was 12 or 13 or 14 years old.

"It was the life then, 17 years ago. I was 15, 16, 17, my school time, it was before university.

"It wasn't just only against [regular] people in the streets, it was normally against some other, MMA sportsman or like that. Everybody was older than me, 23, 25 maybe. I was 15, 16, 17.

"It was a normal life, you go outside and you have to prove yourself. It was not great. It was very hard, very dangerous."

This sack of **** is the very worst, I've got family who suffered under Communism in Poland, the entire history of the Irish is suffering/slavery/oppression. But I don't make it my identity, like this sack of **** and others like him. There is some truth to upbringing influencing your mentality in the ring though, but that's no reason for this clown and the people who constantly parrot the line that 'eastern europeans have no heart' don't know what it's like growing up on the mean streets or da hood to parrot that nonsense. Blah blah blah.... All you have to do is scratch the surface of modern history to know that Eastern Europeans were butchered by the MILLIONS under Bolshevism, or put to work in the Gulags or places similar, many former Eastern bloc countries are STILL suffering from the results of communism... 20-30 years after the fact.

    this is painfully naive

perhaps GGG did indeed describe his family's status as "middle class"

and perhaps Canelo did indeed grow up in poverty (although there seems to be some vigorous dispute about that based on the comments on this Thread).

but w/r/t GGG, a little perspective is necessary to interpret "middle class"

in other words, what exactly was he in the middle of?

being "in the middle" in a post-Soviet republic mining town, growing
up in the shadow of the complete collapse of the Soviet Union is not remotely what most of us here would consider "middle class"

in Kazakstan, for about a two-years after the collapse, there was no food in the
shops--didn't matter what class you were, there was no food to buy

have a look at Karaganda, the city where GGG is from, on Google maps, a travel site, etc.--even for a Soviet mega-industrial city, it's grim--seriously grim

the term in English "middle of nowhere" has a more or less direct translation in Russian and it's "Karaganda" (seriously). That's not a Kazak joke (it's disparaging), but a Russian one.

Same crap said before Miranda vs Pavlik... same crap said before Morales vs MAB... same crap said before Hopkins vs JC... same crap said again and again and again.

    Some people never learn.

At the elite levels, upbringing doesn't matter. Skills do.

It matters in terms of heart, not skill

It doesn't. Thats a myth. And even if it was true (its not), at the elite level, skills and talent weigh more than heart.

Secondly, at the top levels of boxing most fighters have a lot of heart. P4p level fighters that lack heart are exceptions to the rule.

That all being said... i actually do question Gs heart... but it has 0 to do with his upbringing.

Actually Kazakhstan is pooper than Mexica per capital... middle class in khazak may mean $100 per month for the family... I think they both had difficult upbringings compared to Europe and USA

All that death and destruction over the centuries in E.E. has culled the best of their gene pool as well yet they still do incredibly well in all sports they dedicate time and resources toward.

Regarding El Chicano he is not even Latin. I am pretty sure he is a British homosexual who used to post under the screen name felix Trinidad on here.
