Canelo is in his prime

Correction Callum Smith is not elite in terms of skills just his physical dimensions at Super Middleweight seem elite but Canelo showed it’s an illusion.

 

I wouldn't call Smith elite but he's world class and Canelo made him look ordinary so he most certainly is in his prime and looked fantastic.

 

Canelo is a great great fighter no doubt about it. He will beat GGG again if they fight. It requires specialist skills to beat Canelo and only Floyd has done it.

 

Canelo has about 2 prime years left.

 

GGG has done it too, the two best guys Canelo fought were old men who beat him

 

I might be being a bit hard on Callum Smith but I felt he only won the title because George Groves was injured and compromised going into the final of the world boxing super series final and really was not that impressed by him. I thought Ryder won their fight.

 

Canelo keeps improving and has probably his best performance last night. Pretty much perfect. BJS is the only fight for him that really interests me below 175. Beterbiev is the one I most want to see him against.

 

Its obvious that Canelo looks better at 168 but also Smith brothers are so damn average, Callum is very very big 168er but skill wise he is mediocre at best, a weight bully basically, 168 is weaker division than 160. Benadivez is young but has troubles outside the ring and will outgrow the division soon and Plant is okayish against meh opponents too.

 

Well you're right there. He also struggled with Nieky Holzken who although is one of the best kickboxers ever, is a career kickboxer. Smith is really yet to impress me beyond beating a chinny and undersized Ndam.

 

No GGG did not beat Canelo and 100 years from now the record books will show Canelo beat him. First time Canelo outboxed him 2nd time he outfought him Mexican style.

 

I absolutely agree. To be honest it was a bit embarrassing really such was the gulf in class. As Canelo said in the post fight press clothe was simply better. He really learned from his defeat to Floyd Mayweather.

 

Didn't see anything I didn't expect

Actually I expected Canelo to stop him...so no not impressed.

Smith was the perfect style for him to tune on.

I doubt that.
I think he is only going to keep getting better, even at an older age.
