Great talent but give me a break. Hatton rhodes cinton baldimir was gonna fight williams and ortiz and now looking like he is fighting that inactive mouth piece. Almost forgot shot to **** mosley lol. What a garbage fight. Like holmes fighting ali. Pointless and proves nothing

Its laughable. Fight a live body and step up like a man.

At this point did anybody think of him as more than a titlist? Its not like anybody is calling him the lineal undisputed 154 pound champion or anything.

At some point soon, and I think very soon they will step him up in class, they will have to I believe by next year. I doubt we see anything special in September, but there will be some big 154 pound fights available next year.

At that point we will start to find out if this kid is the real thing or not. I personally don't think he himself is afraid to fight anybody, its GBP that's afraid of losing the cash the kid brings in. I myself feel that a loss to a quality opponent at this stage of his career would not damage his image much. People put too much emphasis on a damn loss these days.

A total hype job with a paper title ! I think Williams would have beaten him
! Cotto would as well ! Won a title against a welterweight featherfusted Mathew Hatton !

I think he is getting protected. I seen some earlier fights i think at 147 and during one fight was almost Koed first round.

But goldenboy and hbo trying to do the ortiz PPV was a disgrace.

Thats all he is a cash cow. But canelo vs cotto would be a good fight. Find out how good he really is

Love Canelo, but I'm not happy with this fight if it goes through. He's ready for more.

A source has informed Fightnew that there’s a good possibility that Golden Boy Promotions will shortly name the next opponent of WBC super welterweight world champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez for his next defense on September 15 in Las Vegas. According to the source, some candidates include James Kirkland, Josesito Lopez, Erislandy Lara, Cornelius Bundrage, Austin Trout and Ricardo Mayorga.

    Who cares about the belt??
To be honest I could care less about the ORG's.
(So that whole paper champ talk is for the birds)

GBP making Alvarez look bad by giving him fights not worth him wasting a training camp for.
(Is the pissy point for me)

Will Golden boy put him in the 154lb tournament they have been talking about or will he be protected from that? If they don't put Canelo in the tournament who will he fight if all the best 154lbers are occupied?

Kid. He is a kid. Very impressed with him for his age.

How is Canelo overrated? The kid is only 21... he's consistently stepped up in competition his last few fights. It's not like he's rated on the P4P list. If he beats Cotto, Pacquiao or Mayweather he will deserved to be rated on the P4P top 10. Why does everybody hate on this kid so much? I don't get it. He's 21 for ****'s sake!

first of all, he's fresh out his teens. you realize that, right?

secondly, he's not making the decisions, it's golden boy. thirdly, it's not like the september date wasn't offered to viable opponents. the fact that erislandy lara didnt get the fight is something to question, i'll admit that.

Exactly, he is rated right where he should be, as the next big fighter out of Mexico. He has steadily improved competition and has continued to prove himself.
