Canelo is wasting his prime for B-level opposition

I hear ya. IMO, what GBP should have done with Canelo from the get go was to forge him into the best jrMW ever. Unify the division, rack off a large # of title defenses.

Of course, I'm sure GBP wasn't counting on the popularity of 3G to grow like it did.

Yeah, if he loses to chavez jr, there's probably going to be a rematch, as it will make a bunch of money too. And if he wins, and then loses to 3G, I guess a rematch could be possible there (Dependent on how the first one goes down). But you are right, if he loses, his opps are more limited.

 

Canelo paid his dues by taking on multiple High Risk Low reward fights, he also got Mayweather, and Cotto to fight him because he gave them what they wanted. He also offered GGG 3 offers which have been refused.

HBO has hyped and hyped GGG for years now. They tried to sell him to white people, they tried to sell him to Mexicans, and he was picking up momentum, but his unwillingness to find a credible dance partner for a supposed top 10 P4P has been his own fault for wanting all the terms PERFECT.

People like fighters who seek challenges. Not so much fighters who always seem to have a "reason" why they cant fight certain fighters.

 

Paid his dues? You're supposed to take high risk, low reward fights moving up. That's not paying dues, that's simply being a damn fighter.

How exactly is Canelo wasting his prime going on a run of Trout, Floyd, Lara, Cotto and JC Chavez Jr. with some B level guys along the way? That's an amazing resume. Seems to me he is maximizing profits while taking on a very high level of competition.
He's a joy to watch and will take on anyone.
