He followed Cotto around like a
    baby version of Drago following
    around Creed...

    but never really did much...

    lots of posing...

    Protected?
Tell me who Canelo has avoided?
.......and don't say GGG because that hasn't happened yet.

Canelo is actually one of the few fighters that has taken on all comers even when the stylistic matchup wasn't in his favor.

Bafoons like you voiced that he'd never fight Austin Trout or Erislandy Lara, and yet he took them both on and beat them, and you morons still crtiticize him.

Again, who has Canelo ducked in his career???????

    +1.

Considering he had no amateur career, the level of competition he's stepped up to (and the stylistic disadvantages he's willingly faced) make me laugh when I see people act like he's protected or coddled.

Instead of holding their supposed boogeymen accountable for not doing enough to win, they just keep holding against Alvarez like the fight never happened.

Lara, Trout, and Cotto had their chances. Maybe if they threw more and landed more it'd be a different story. Lara and Cotto in particular fought like they were happy just to last the distance.

Not a huge fan of Canelo, but hard to disagree with you, so far he has taken all the touch challenges that have come his way. Hope the fight with GGG happens!

Have to agree that he is protected. Lara definitely deserved the decision and Trout arguably did aswell but they would have had to kill Canelo that night to get a decision over the new "golden boy"

    He hasn't "ducked" anyone...until now.

By protection I mean the scoring in his recent fights. One judge, obviously in on this conspiracy, scored the Mayweather fight a draw (!). He was given a gift decision vs Lara. Last night Cotto wasn't going to win except by ko.....did you think the 119-110 score to be anything other than a payoff?

Now he is backing away from his comments last night about fighting GGG by stipulating weight conditions.

I had predicted that Canelo was going to ko Cotto so I can't be accused of being a Cotto nut hugger. I'm just calling it like I see it.

That's your opinion. The consensus is that Canelo beat both Trout and Lara who most in Canelo's shoes would have chosen not to fight such fighters.

Guys like you will always refuse to give any fighter you didn't stand by from the beginning their due.
There hasn't been a fighter in history to beat every type of style matchup in a dominant fashion, so you're grasping at straws in discrediting a fighter like Canelo for not plastering fighters like Trout and Lara.

One thing we do know and that that the quality of opposition is by far superior with Canelo than it is with GGG, and the bottom line with Canelo is that he hasn't chosen to step up and fight as a middleweight, if GGG so wants him Canelo is within his rights to ask that he come down to him.

"You want a piece of me, come down and get me!"
GGG will only come down for Mayweather or the midget Pacquiao, but not for the inferior Canelo!"

I don't recall typing that I thought Canelo should have "plastered " Trout and Lara but whatever.

I do agree that Canelo's opposition in total has been better than GGG's.

I guess Cotto was not good enough opposition since Canelo clearly was
the better boxer and easily, and very concincingly outscored him.

That's correct...I had predicted a ko for Canelo over the undersized, old, shopworn Cotto.
