He's mentioned for years he doesn't care who he fights at 160 as long as he can ascertain all of the belts. It's his prerogative, but I think fight fans would rather see him in competitive fights rather than unifying a mediocre division.

WHen a fighter is considered REALLY good, they almost always move up in weight and try to conquer other divisions. Gonzalez is doing it right now, FLoyd and Manny have been doing it for years. Even Hopkins eventually moved out of his division as a long standing champion and won belts north of 160. Calzaghe and JOnes Jr also come to mind.

The really great fighters dare to challenge themselves and when they're clearly better than the rest of the opposition at their weight class, they become ambitious and go for bigger targets, go against guys where the fights are considered closer to 50-50. Once again Gennady is entitled to do whatever he wants, but I wouldn't be more impressed with him unifying the division compared to him taking on some legitimate threats at 168.

He only people who win here are the boxers. Golovkin gets to make more step aside money, the winner gets to milk their title longer.

As fans we should be disheartened that a fight between the top 2 MW fighters is so difficult to make.

We've already seen this same act before. Canelo won't be fighting GGG next period.

Canelo is a franchise fighter, but he deeply resents the image that he's coddled and protected. Playing that angle is a surefire way to get him interested because the cred of being a fighter who takes on all comers matters to him.

It was foolish that people thought he'd avoid GGG then, and it's still foolish now. We're going to get that fight, and it's good for boxing we do.

How exactly is he supposed to get a "significant win" if you don't think he should get the big fights in the first place?

This is turning into a broken record with Canelo and people pretending he's a ducker. I heard the same thing with Trout, Lara, and Floyd, and now GGG. Then once Alvarez fights them, it's on to the next boogeyman he'll supposedly never fight.

I disagree it isn't in GBP's best interest to fight GGG right now. Time is on their side here not the other way around another Canelo loss would be devastating to GBP since he's all they really have and they know that, Canelo is in a great position with PBF and Pac bowing out of the game and is the next cash cow. Oscar has already gone on record saying Canelo isn't a MW and he needs to grow into the division, no way in hell would Canelo's next fight be at 160 with GGG after Khan at 155 and him never even fighting at 160 yet.:deal I don't see this fight happening this year at all if somehow it does happen it won't be at the 160 pound limit.

GGG must be to you what Calzaghe is to HerolGee.

That's he only explanation for your sorry whining and hating on GGG is that you caught your old lady playing with herself to a GGG video !

ROFL He hasn't fought him has he?? He hasn't signed to fight has he?? Notice no weight limit mentioned?? Oscar knows that if he ever lets El Pollo in ring with Gennady BANG!! goes his cash cow. He'll make ridiculous stipulations like 150 c/w & 85/15 split to keep it from happening
Oh BTW talking about girls?? Try Oscar fishnets, El Pollo &
    Pretty in Pink :rofl:good

But PIMPLE Oscar & El Pollo CLAIM to be LINEAL World Middleweight Champion. That a 160 pound limit champion
    El Pollo two choices....

    1... Defend it like a man at 160 .
2... Give up the fake title & fight at 154

Right now he's turning all fight fans against him Just think how humiliating that must be for him to see his own proud Mexican fight fans give him the name !!! El Pollo !!! Bawk Bawk :smoke

fight will be at 157 and will do about 1.5 million buys. i said this when the match up was first discussed and i still believe it. the destruction of khan with a highlight reel ko is part of the marketing strategy.
now that i think about it, what khan has been doing the last few years by calling out floyd every chance he gets will play into how the uninformed casual will see the fight. this is the guy floyd wanted no part of, even ignoring his own fan poll, and he just got hattoned by canelo.
canelo can play the "i was just a boy, still learning, when i took on floyd at his best.", this would open up a marketing campaign that would bring in the casuals for a fight vs 3g or a rematch with floyd, depending on which way gives you the best deal. now he has leverage to pit 2 superfights against each other in order to get the best edge in negotiations. canelo is getting the keys to the 2 biggest fights to be made in sep. 2016.
if i thought oscar had planned it this way, i would call it genius.
