the difference in levels is too great for little head games to make a difference. what plant accomplished is a promise of a worse beating than he was already going to get. canelo is going to really amplify the humiliation factor.
I am not sure at. Stylistically this is a hard fight for Canelo because of Plant’s ability quick hands, quick feet and elusive skills. The closest that to Plant Canelo has faced was the 36 year old Floyd Mayweather.
This traces back to Plant not being willing to go ahead with a fight on Mexican Independence Day weekend. That's what really did it. I hope they have a donor liver ready to do on fight night.
plant is going to be eating left hooks and overhand rights till canelo gets tired of throwing them. those are the punches that are going to grind him down. when plants usual spacing and defensive rolls fail to work against canelo like hes used to seeing them work, he will have no plan b. that will be the start of the end. hes gonna be forced to do things hes not used to doing, and hes gonna get caught. often. i dont put any stock in what happened today as being proof of whats gonna happen in the fight, but if i was to write what an exchange of slaps between them might look like, they pretty much nailed it. plant trying to be slick, and getting something he wasnt expecting or ready for. hes in the fast lane now. when people say about a fighter that the moment was too big for him, this is what they are really talking about. plant isnt ready for this level.
Don't be ridiculous. Smith, Jacobs, GGG, and Saunders are all better than Plant. Outside of Yildrim and Fielding, this is the easiest fight he's had since Chavez Jr.
Being "better" doesnt mean youre tougher. Plant will be a tough fight for Canelo and i see him giving canelo big problems early on.
Plant is better than overhyped Brits Smith and Saunders that’s for sure. When people claimed Smith was the best at Super Middleweight because he beat an injury compromised Groves I strongly disagreed. BJS is basically a joke. Jacobs is a good fighter but was compromised by the morning of the fight weigh in rules which affected his rehydration. Plant’s skills, speed of feet and hand as well as athleticism are a problem for Canelo.
Plant hasn't beaten anyone close to even a worsened Groves. It's well known the injury played to little to no part in Groves' defeat, Groves himself - a highly self serving and arrogant fella - admitted as such. Smith's win over Groves eclipses Plant's résumé, and his 'win' over Ryder is also far more impressive than any of Caleb's record. Saunders is basically a joke? Give over, you gimp. Saunders is an elite fighter with an excellent jab, good footwork and elusive head-movement. He's also big set and strong, whereas Caleb is thin and clearly not very imposing. Another fighter who's far more proven than Plant. Jacobs is so much better than Plant it isn't even debatable. On a scale of one-sided, this is somewhere between a severe stroke and an execution.
