Per Road to Canelo/Smith by HBO. Its on YouTube. He says the fight didn't happen because of negotiations and that a fight that big is hard to make. Loeffler said they didn't even start negotiations lol. I'm actually surprised that HBO brought up Golovkin in this episode to be honest.
Ha Ha these Losers still defend Him....he ran like Chicken Little and handed over his Belt....for God sake Blind Freddie could see that.!!!!
Golden Boy were focusing on the lawsuit the day after the Khan fight, not answering K2's phone call lol. There's a video interview with De La Hoya on YouTube. Go find it.
Him and Oscar have told that many bullsquit statements and and gone down so many blind alleys whilst trying to talk thier way out of being seen as chickens or duckers or what ever that now all the lies are starting overlap and people are starting to be able to put one statement next to another one and find all the contradictions. I said a while ago now they just need to shut up, they got what they wanted in the end which was to not fight GGG or any other top ranked Middleweight, it meant they got a lot of heat but heat dies down but they couldnt shut up, kept up with statements trying to save face and its just constantly got worse for them as they dig themselves bigger and bigger holes.
They didn't have to negotiate really, Golovkin was mandatory, therefore it would have gone to purse bids and Canelo would have got the lions share. It really was that simple if GBP didn't want to negotiate directly with K2. But instead Canelo vacated rather than fight the mandatory and that's a blatant duck. They can still try and spin it but everybody knows what happened, Canelo lost his bottle and GBP had absolutely no faith in Canelo beating Golovkin. They must believe boxing fans have 3 second memories, trying to rewrite history isn't going to work with this one.
They said anyone FROM 154-168. NOT at 154-168. Canelo is not a 154lber. He is easily a middleweight, the full 160lbs. That is why they will not have the fight at catchweights, only the full middleweight 160. Then again what do we know, we can't say what happens behind those closed doors.
There is plenty to criticize Golovkin about but blaming him for the Canelo fight not happening is absolutely ridiculous.
I'm pretty sure negotiations broke down very quickly over GGG's unwillingness to move off 160. That is consistent with what I read at the time, and Hopkins appears to be hinting very strongly this was the case in a recent interview in the UK. This content is protected
Wrong Canelos a Jr MW He's never fought at 160 So anyone from 154-168 but at HIS weight? ROFL That doesn't even make sense He should just say anyone at 160
