Okay even if you throw out my example of Floyd fighting Mosley and Oscar, I would still argue that Canelo would have better chances if he waited.

If Canelo keeps winning no way does Floyd turn a fight down with him. There is too much money to be made with the fanbase Canelo has.

Floyd already signed a multi fight contract so he is goign to be fighting for a few more years.

The major risk would be if Canelo loses to someone else while gaining more experience. If he does then he was just a hype job anyway so yeah cashing out now makes sense. Of course they could just carefully pick Canelo's opponents so he does not lose but gains more experience.

I just see this ending badly for Canelo. At this point in time he is going to be humiliated. That is my opinion.

    No doubt.

Him gassing in the Trout fight certainly didn't help matters...

I think it's financially motivated. Once Floyd retired (permanently), PPV numbers aren't going to be the same. Best to get in while the getting is good. Plus he's young enough that a decision loss to Floyd won't have a huge impact on his long term career.

I can't blame him. After this fight, he can retire rich if he wants to. Why not?

Cotto might not have the biggest heart or the greatest chin, but he's been in with some hard hitters Margarito and Pacquaio, Lopez managed to shock Alvarez sometimes and put him on the back foot, if you watch the fight again. Yeah i know Canelo dominated and stopped him, but was surprised too see that Lopez in some stages of the fight managed to put him on the back foot. I don't think Mayweather will stop him, but i think it is possible that he might do it. I do believe that Alvarez is gonna get stopped in the future

The time and the weight are good for this fight. Floyd wouldn't wait 2 or maybe 3 years to fight with a prime Canelo. Besides that Canelo in 2 years will be a well sized middleweight and Floyd will be an 'old' and retired ATG fighter.

Again, you're assuming that Canelo has the luxury of waiting. The opportunity was there now, there was no reason to wait. Why wait and risk either himself or Mayweather losing or him out growing the division? Your logic doesn't make any sense. Canelo will be 23 when this fight happens. He's getting an 8 figure payday. He's expected to lose. A loss won't hurt his career. Look at Chavez Jr, he got schooled by Martinez and everyone around his weight class still wants to fight him. He's still a big draw.
