Canelo-Mayweather 2- What would it take

If Ward was around today prime at 168 a technician who can fight at all ranges with a high ring IQ and great defense Canelo would be in a world of trouble because Ward had the ability to exploit his flaws much like PBF and Lara did to a lesser extent. This is no knock on Canelo who I don't see anyone in the world beating 168 and down for a long long time. I'm just telling it like it is.

 

Paul Williams is a sucker for counter punchers he fights dumb can't adjust and doesn't even fight tall. He was outboxed by Quinatana a counter puncher and Lara a counter puncher and Martinez another counter puncher. PBF is a counter puncher, he's not the answer. Prime Lara could give PBF a difficult fight but then again he's also much bigger than PBF, shrink him down and he would get outboxed and beat at his own game. With that said Canelo has always had good upper body movement and has always slipped punches his defense is arguably his best asset. I don't see this great improvement he was very polished at a young age which is why people early saw him as the second coming and rightfully so. Like I said there are simply no fighters around who can exploit his flaws if Ward was still prime at 168 he could but he's long since retired.

 

36 is still old, yes Floyd would get KO’d today but mostly due to the size difference. It would be the same outcome as Canelo fighting Pac, JMM, Crawford, and any other fighter who started in the lower weights
