The weight dispute for Saturday night's Floyd Mayweather vs Canelo Alvarez fight never seemed like that big of a deal, at least until the last week or so. When Leonard Ellerbe said on "All Access" that they took advantage of Canelo's team offering to do the fight at 150 pounds and insulted their intelligence, Alvarez's team took it personally, and responded that Mayweather was the one "crying about the weight."

At the end of the day, as they say, the two basically met in the middle of the 150-pound idea and the standard 154-pound junior middleweight limit, as the limit tomorrow for the weigh-in is 152 pounds. If you want to be pro-Floyd, they took two pounds away from Canelo, because they're so smart. If you want to be pro-Canelo, then you can say Mayweather gave Canelo two pounds, because they're foolish.

Whatever. It doesn't even matter. A weight limit is a weight limit -- the fighters agreed, the teams agreed, the contracts were signed. No one was swindled.

But Alvarez is not done "exposing" the Mayweather camp. In a piece at ***********.com, Alvarez says that Mayweather also wanted a fight day weight limit, which Canelo refused. That part itself isn't so bad -- in fact, many wondered why instead of worrying about a weigh-in catchweight, Mayweather didn't pursue a rehydration limit -- but Alvarez also states that they tried to keep him quiet about it.

"They came up with a second-day weigh-in. They wanted to do a second-day weigh-in and limit what I cold weigh the second day, and I wouldn't agree to that. And then they tried to force me to stay quiet and to not mention it, and that's why we didn't say anything. And we haven't said anything until now," Canelo said.

Mayweather and Leonard Ellerbe have clearly got under Canelo and his teams skin. Sounds like they are struggling to make the weight.

:patsch How does that sound like "struggling to make the weight"? Canelo just exposed some of Mayweathers business practices thats all.

Exactly. See how *****s spin everything into another Floyd advantage? Rather then deal with the fact that FMJ pulled some shady stuff here. Not only that, but TMT even brought up an old article from a few years back where Canelo "reportedly" said he would consider moving down to 150 lbs. And that was basically the basis (without confirming that Canelo actually agreed to that) for all of Floyd Mayweather's attempts to cut corners in demanding catchweight and a re-hydration limit.

Mayweather on All Access actually bragged about what they did, and tried to act like it was a smart business decision. In doing so, exposed themselves as flat out liars for denying it was them who demanded the catchweight since this fight was announced.

It sounds like they tried to force Canelo "to stay quiet" similar to how they apparantly forced DLH to stay quiet. DLH literally said we can't comment on it and maybe dealing with the stress from TMT was a factor in DLH going to rehab. It's stuff like this that insults the intelligence of the fans. Just the fact that FMJ would stoop to these kinds of new lows to try to tilt a bout in his favor, then try to keep people quiet shows how big of an ego this guy has. You would think his jailstint would have humbled FMJ, but apparently it hasn't. He thinks he can do anything and no one will ever call him out. The guy has so much the least he can do is give the fans a fair fight.

It's disappointing to be honest with you. I've followed Mayweather's career and at times respected what he has accomplished. But I don't think you can be the best when you can't even fight a guy like Canelo straight up without any BS. To me, all this exposes Mayweather further and really can work for Canelo, whether he comes in at 152 or 153. Canelo's no joke, and even if he slightly drained himself, he is very young and his body can recover in 24 hours. Obviously the *****s will follow FMJ off a cliff, but I think the neutral fans can see what happened here clearly and can respect Canelo for how he put up with all this TMT bitchin and crying just to make the fight for the fans. Canelo, I salute you, you have handled all of TMT BS with class and respect for the sport in giving the fans what they want to see. The real fans thank you, and good luck this weekend!

Mayweather is one of the biggest hypocrites in the game. This is embarrassing from him.

If you believe what canelo says? He canelo said they never said they would come down to 150 to fight mayweather, but if you look it up canelo said back in 2011 he was willing to drop down to 150 to fight mayweather. Mayweather's antics have gotten under Canelos skin, so now he's putting this out there. Floyd sr was the one saying 147 with a rehydration limit of 150 on fight night back in April. Mayweather himself never made any public statemts about the weight before.

Floyd's the main man, everyone wants to fight him. He has the power to dictate the terms and do what he wants. Canelo was the one calling Floyd out for years just like every other boxer out there, canelo was going to have to give something to make the fight. Something he knew even back in 2011 saying he'd drop to 150 to get a mayweather fight. Now all of a sudden its a problem, when the 152 cw was announced Canelos team was saying it going to make him faster, it would be no problem.

There are a lot of morons on these boards.

This fight shouldnt even be happening... Canelo is a middleweight & he's been cheating the scales for years.

People are so anti-Floyd they'll happily turn the back on the fact that Canelo will outweigh Floyd on Fight night by 20+lbs...

Thats what people should be moaning about, not the 2lb catchweight.

Actually I think that was pretty much DLH saying that. It might not be a problem at all. We'll have to see in a few hours. It might just make him faster. It's not "all of a sudden a problem". It was Mayweather who was arrogantly bragging about how they used this article as a basis to demand a catchweight. Canelo is just setting the record straight. All this time TMT was saying it was Canelo who wanted to the catchweight. But in reality, it was TMT that demanded it in negotiations! They admitted it themselves.

What's funny is that FMJ vs Guerrero tanked in terms of PPV numbers, and FMJ actually needed Canelo, Showtime basically forced Mayweather to fight Canelo because of how bad his first Showtime fight did #'s wise. Most people are going to tune in just to see if FMJ gets beat. Canelo is a much more dangerous opponent to Floyd than Guerrero was. The *****s will say it's getting under Canelo's skin. But I don't think it is. I think it got under DLH's skin, sent the dude to rehab. But all this BS from TMT could just serve as extra motivate for Canelo to be more focused and sharp on fight night.

160 on fight day doesn't make him a middleweight.

I think Canelo will win by KO to be honest. Mayweather has been massively over rated for a long time now. His fans are like Michael Jackson fans who just defend him for everything.
