Canelo might be too big for Mayweather....

Canelo was playing with Gomez, I said it in the first round while watching it live. Even when you just spar someone.. you can tell if you are leagues above them... Canelo could tell he was leagues above Gomez.

 

Alvarez has 2 advantages only. Size and youth. Will it be enough? I doubt it. Alvarez can make the fight close if he is willing to take punishment. Floyd will not go down without a fight. The 1 question about Alvarez that I have not seen asked is, does he have the heart to press the action and make up for his disadvantage in skill?

He was working on his defense and setting up the big punch, but he was actually losing rounds to a far inferior fighter. That's why that fight is disturbing - he thought he was playing while Gomez was going to war, but what if Gomez won two or three more rounds and somehow managed to survive the fight? Low ring iq. You should never be down points to a clearly inferior fighter.

 

I think Floyd's opponenets need to box him more, give me another Zab Judah-like fighter that is mentally strong that can box for the full 12 rnds against Mayweather.

 

But then again NO ONE that ever fights Floyd is intimidated by him .

Upon observation on both of their last fights , Trout would get the job done . NO QUESTION .

 

This isn't the first fighter Mayweather encounters that's bigger than him. That said, press conference and weigh-in confidence means jack****, no idea why fans take that crap too seriously.

 

Austin has no power, slow feet, and average hand speed, and just not as athletic as Zab. Mentally strong, but Zab Judah he is not. Also, Zab did as good as he did against Floyd, because they knew each other very well. Floyd didn't start to really press until the 5th round, but he was putting in that early body work because he knew Zab was a "Front Runner".

I agree that the key to beat Mayweather is Strong mental...but also speed, and of course boxing ability. You can't let the guy think.

 

It's funny, remember Rigondeaux refused to look Donaire in the eye...and that was a great prediction for the fight! :rofl
