He does a lot of things right. But he is not making the necessary improvements I think to be great. He needs to learn how to cut off the ring and move his feet better overall. Maybe it's a stamina issue because I don't think it's a coordination issue. Maybe the rumors of him controlling his camp were spot on...who knows. I'd like to see him with someone else and not be surrounded by comfort like he seems to be. Training camp should be hard and barren. You should be improving on things during training camp, and I don't think Canelo is. He did some good things in there tonight, but, he let Lara off the hook one too many times by letting him slide out without being contested. This fight could've been so much more exciting had Canelo just had some better footwork and been able to halt Lara some from running. Canelo almost seemed content at certain points to just throw a flailing one punch miss. Where there's a will, there is a way.
Alvarez should have knocked the chicken Lara out. Alvarez is getting much better though. He won the fight tonight, 117-111 was about right. One left from Alvarez did more damage than all of Lara's punches put together and Alvarez' body punches were awesome. Lara fought afraid, all his talk and he did nothing but run...............
Fight was very close I thought Canelo won but he needs to work on a lot of things he. Weds to learn how to cut off the ring I want to see him with a new trainer bad
Which trainer do you think would best suit him? Or does it even matter because he is such a big star that he's going to do what he wants to do regardless? He needs a Rocky IV type of training camp out in the middle of nowhere with nobody around. That's kind of what I'm getting at here with this thread. Bring Kevin Rooney out of retirement to train him. Hell, even Teddy Atlas. I'm not sure Nacho or Garcia would be the answer because maybe that is too close to home. Maybe John David Jackson.
I think Freddie roach would be a good trainer for canelo to look at if he ever decides to leave chepo reynoso which I doubt he will
Meaning that maybe Canelo won't listen and he'll maybe not be as dedicated as Nacho would want him to be.
Kinda like how Lara doesn't trust his chin. He knows he needs to run otherwise he'll get KTFO like his brother Gamboa.
Angulo almost knocked Lara out, but Lara landed a huge headbutt to save himself............................ Alvarez is doing quite well with his trainer, he is getting much better, but I would like to see him even more aggressive.............
