Whoever came up with Canelo's gameplan against Mayweather should be fired. I said this before the fight that Canelo possesses all the tools necessary to beat Mayweather, however, his gameplan for the first 4 or 5 rounds was very weak. I literally was sitting there scratching my head asking myself why on Earth is a 23 year old boxer who has more punching power and youth trying to outbox and outjab one of the best boxers of all time?

Going into the later rounds, Canelo's corner did not seem to give him any sense of urgency or tell him how far behind he was. Did they really think he was winning the fight?

I thought Miguel Cotto had a much better gameplan against Mayweather and built a "mini" blueprint on how Mayweather COULD be defeated if implemented by a hungry younger skilled fighter.

All in all I think Canelo is still a very talented fighter and he will bounce back from this. I doubt he will ever have another shot against Floyd. He needs a new trainer to take advantage of the skills he has. In my opinion, he let a lot of people down last night.

Canelo was too slow. He doesn't need a new trainer. There aren't any other "Floyd Mayweathers" out there.

I agree 100% - whoever crafted the gameplan has got to go. Also, why not just get rid of the trainers altogether and save the money - spend it on something more usefull? I got a friend who makes a great living playing golf and he's nearing 50 - and he doesn't need a freakin' trainer and never has.

Doesn't matter what gameplan they used he was never going to beat PBF. He had to try and box with PBF because he's a boxer puncher I ahve no idea why people think he fight like a pressure fighter. Canelo and his people felt that he had superior boxing ability to PBF. They were mistaken and PBF beat them at their own game.

True .. they actually was expecting the same Floyd that fought Guerro. They seriously thought Floyd was going to try and come in hold, use his elbow to create space, stand in front of Alverez, and allow him to get off stiff jab like Cotto did.

But what they got was, aggressive, sharp shooter, stand in the pocket, make you mis Floyd.

I have no idea why they thought they would get the floyd that fought Robert. it was dumb move.

Pretty much every fight you hear about Mayweather's opponent not using the right gameplan. There are only three ways to beat Floyd; hope he gets injured, robbery, outthink him. Cotto's supposedly great game plan won him 2 or 3 rounds.

Floyd's like a boxing snake charmer. Mesmerizes his opponents, hits them and is gone before they can couter. When they attack makes them miss and counters. After a while they just stand there looking dumb founded confused and fusrated.

I really thought canelo would come in trying to manhandle Floyd, I was quite surprised canelo failed to use his size instead tired to outbox mayweather. He was Studying the cotto fights but didn't try to pressure Floyd the way cotto did. Kid was out of his League, it's like Vin diesel looks big in fast 5, then the rock comes in and Dwarfs him.

I was shocked at how chill Canelo's corner was during the later rounds. They didn't seem to give a damn

That was Canelo's real problem, he's not a pressure fighter. His stamina is suspect, and his footwork and footspeed aren't all that great either. There was no way he was going to consistently trap Floyd and be setup to deliver accurate, and meaningful shots.

Mayweather is a trainer killer. Hoya, Hatton, Cotto, Mosley, and Ortiz all fired their trainers shortly after getting their asses handed to them by Mayweather. Chepo is a goner within a fight or two.
