The Hatton fight was a completely different animal than Canelo vs Floyd. Hatton didn't have the size or reach to land on Floyd. Hatton had short arms and couldn't fight at range agaisnt Floyd like Canelo can. Hatton had to get inside and Cortez didn't let him work inside. Hatton's relentless pressure ended up getting him knocked out. Canelo actually tried to be patient early and tried to open up in the middle rounds, which is a good strategy vs Floyd. Canelo's stamina will improve when he doesn't have to get down to a 152 lb catchweight. His footwork looked good against Trout. Canelo doesn't really need to change anything. He proved he has what it takes to beat Floyd. He just can't be weight drained. When you're weight drained it affects your peformance. CATCHweights are meaningless.
What was the point of your post? The Hatton fight was obviously way different. I was outlining that canelo couldn't really apply similar pressure and he couldnt, drained or not. People had mentioned that he should employ the Hatton style and I suggested against it. Also, Hatton connected on Floyd quite a few times, short arms and all. His issue was that he lead with his face and Floyd was timing the check hook all night. This was a common issue with Hatton that even sr. Was having a hard time training out of him, evidenced by the same hook landing regularly in the Mallignaggi fight. I agree that Cortez really put the kibosh on the Hatton style though. Didn't appreciate that much, which is why I find the malaignaggi fight more entertaining in subsequent viewings. Kenny b is the man.
I'm sorry but the Mayweather Canelo fight proved Canelo definitely doesn't have what it takes to beat Mayweather; even if there was no weight limit and Canelo fought Mayweather again in his last fight it would be a UD loss for him. They're worlds apart in foot speed, stamina, boxing IQ and hand speed. I wanted Canelo to win and would if they ever fought again but the truth is the truth, Mayweather too good for him.
