Can you say Margarito at about the first Cotto fight?

Can you say Mayweather retires at that point because the top two welters are Margarito and giant Paul Williams, both 100 punches per round fighters????

Mayweather knows all to well! :yep

Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. said before hand Canelo needed to be on top of Mayweather and not let him breathe. You cant let a sharp shooter like Mayweather think.

A good parrelel is Juan Manuel Marquez first fight with Juan Diaz.
Though outclassed skillwise, Diaz was a fighter that knows how to apply good pressure.
He did it in the first Marquez fight and had his moments.
He chose to box Marquez in the rematch and really looked lost out there.
No way was he going to outbox Juan Manuel Marquez, but at least by applying pressure in their first fight, he gave himself a chance and gave the fans a fight of the year to absorb.

I know the haters are coming but I think Matthysse is the only one that has the best chance to beat Floyd at 140-147 IMO

    you still believe this ****?

btw, this is why Canelo wasn't more aggressive against Floyd

Pacquiao just thought he should be more aggressive vs Marquez. Looked what happened

what was impressive was not that Canelo is so good. he is good but he is nothing special, it is that Canelo is so big.

Good gif of that counter right by Mayweather.

Good infighters make adjustments when you get hit with a counter on the inside like that.

After getting hit with that counter, the adjustment is to launch yourself closer after the 2nd punch so that Mayweather does'nt have room or leverage to counter with the fight.
Instead Canelo is wanting to give himself room to launch the left hook and gets caught with the right.

These adjustments are easier said that done of course, and damn Mayweather anticipates and sees the punches coming so well. :yep

Getting consistently hit clean in the mouth with hard, accurate punches that no other opponent you ever fought is able to pull off while your offense is being negated tends to impact your thought process in a fight.

No, he was never a threat. he really wasn't, and the fight showed it. people talk about 20/20 hindsight, but that's a benefit. the future becomes the past and we look back. canelo didn't have the gameplan or experience to hang with a seasoned veteran, who also happens to be in an echelon all his own, like floyd. the hype machine that was showtime, goldenboy and floyd's team may have made it seem otherwise, and who knows? maybe they even believed it, but the evidence, a 12 round, sublime boxing masterclass, i'm talking dumbledore with some shorts and gloves on, proved otherwise.

Every poll that i saw on the fight was around 90% in favour of floyd. Every expert that i heard give their opinion on the fight said that floyd would win. The betting odds also reflected how heavily floyd was favoured.

I will be the first to say as a Myweather fan, I thought he would have been beat by the bigger guy. Mayweather was brilliant and you just never know how will fight
