A better fight for Canelo, is Andre Ward.

If DLH thinks this fight over, when he is in an upbeat mood...He will see how this gamble is worth it & much better than picking on the already beaten Kovalev...

DLH still didn't hit his prime as a promoter, a Canelo vs Andre Ward is the type of fight that show the greatness of a promoter.

 

You'd fail as a promoter.

Ward's son Kovalev is already a big gamble. No one knows how Canelo Will even look at 175.

 

Probably because hes on the level and no underhand tactics to gain advantages on a bigger man...

Don King didn't listen to some Small-Beta sidekick telling him doing Ali-Forman in the a 5th world Jungle is a bad idea, Elite promoters are powerful Alpha males that make great fights & are not tied up emotionally to some fighter

Kovalev is not a surprising win (winnable fight really), so nothing big out of it...except the high risk of getting Iced & if that happens DLH as a promoter gets no credit for the fight, even if Kovalev signs up with him...he is a loss at this stage of his career

Canelo vs Ward captures the imagination...It will also help Canelo penetrate an even bigger demographic. About the same risk, since Ward will no longer be fast vs the smaller Canelo...the size, range and power remain the same threat. Canelo win or just even challenging Ward, adds credit to DLH as a promoter....

We are strictly talking DLH interests here...Canelo will eventually be washed up...DLH still has decades of productive pimping ahead of him

 

Canelo is not required to fight at 175. Since he's not required to face anyone at 175, why would any promoter put gamble their cash cow and put him in a fight he is guaranteed to lose?? Not only that but Ward is retired and virtually unknown outside the hardcores.

Not only is Kovalev a more winnable fight, he's the current LHW King and most popular active LHW.

Beating Kovalev would make Canelo a MX ATG imo, it would also make him a four division champion, and the first MX LHW champion.

In the unlikely event that he would beat Ward, Canelo would not receive much credit for beating a fighter coming out of retirement.

 

Okay Isal...sing away...Canelo is already a MX ATG...seems the Kovalev fight is already a done deal, lets hope Canelo calls out Ward after he is done with Kovalev

Andre Ward should not be allowed to be the only boxing ATG to die without losing a fight since puberty...that will make him a GOAT candidate for some future historian who value invincibility
