Canelo has been improving a lot in every one of his fights yet I don't think he is ready for Mayweather Jr. When he was fighting at welterweight he was agressive to a point where he was wreckless as evident when he was dropped by Cotto. In his later fights he wanted to start applying defensive techniques but was unsuccessful as evident in the Gomez fight. In his last fight with Trout he put his patience, punch selection, and defense together but seemed to lack the stamina necessary to be effective the whole 12 rounds. I think another two more fights against top opposition would have helped him prepare to be in the best shape of his career. That been said, I truly would like to see him give it his all and finally see Mayweather Jr. tested as he has never been before. I just hope to see a great fight with a lot of drama and not a one sided beatdown.

I agree. I kind of wish Floyd had waited a bit but I don't blame him at all for taking it now, it's the fight people want to see.

I don't think Canelo is peak yet but he sure as heck can't pass it up either. I do favor FMJ but Canelo shoots out a fast lead right and fast combos which should make it interesting....I hope !!

Smart move by Floyd catching young red before its too late. But this is the biggest threat Floyd has had since he fought Chico.

Floyd is well past his best. It would be a shame to let this fight sit until he looks old. Also he's a lot smaller than Canelo..

    ****ing bull****.

Canelo is ready. No excuses if he loses.

Floyd gets huge props from me for taking on Canelo instead of another lightweight coming up in weight

 no excuses? If Floyd fought him at the 154 lbs limit, then you would be right. At this point, Floyd did it to himself.

Last time to be able to confidently pick against Floyd. I don't see any other threats on the horizon (during his 5 fight deals I mean).

Anyway, this thread is BS because nobody was saying this when the fight wasn't signed..
If Floyd didn't fight him, people would say he ducked a huge threat..
Now that he's fighting him it's a cherry pick?
    Typical ESB.

Hes the unified champ and number one guy in his division what more prep does he need?

He shouldnt be calling out Floyd if he aint ready.

perhaps, but im picking canelo because i genuinely think he will be too much for floyd, even at 152.
not a fan of floyds, but i respect his ability and i dont kid myself about his skill. judges will not be protecting floyd in this one, because all the money floyd can make the promoters in his next 4 fights, canelo can triple in the remainder of his career. he is the more sound investment at this stage of the game.
without the protection of the judges and the ref, floyd will be forced to fight, and lose.
