    Agreed.

Canelo chose life. Beterbiev would put what was left of Canelos corpse in the second row and still lose a split decision.

Then he shouldn’t have gone to 175 himself, willingly, to cherry pick a shot fighter like a jackass, is all I think people are saying.

    Edit addition:

What makes it a jackass move is Canelo saying he wants to challenge himself and fight the best, yet he short camps a shot Kovalev, who was no where near the best the LHW division had to offer at the time. Ignores Benavidez when he had a title at SMW and in general stacks the deck so far in his own favor that the outcomes are predetermined.

I’d suggest Canelo not fight at 175 then and people wouldn’t expect it.

I reject the notion that Canelo is a clear #1.

His victory over Kovalev was a hyena job, yet it was the fight that had Ring Magazine put him on top.

Roman Gonzalez became a four weight champion by defeating Carlos Cuadras. Hard fight but then Cuadras (undefeated at the time), had much more fight in him than old Krusher did. I bring this up because I suspect the many who withheld praise for Roman are now the one's heaping it on Saul. Some rate the Mexican #1 while conceding they thought he lost both Golovkin fights...? The only question mark on Roman Gonzalez's career is whether he deserved to lose his zero to Rungvisai (first fight).

Canelo is an excellent fighter, and his record is quality, but those pretty numbers are dazzling the neophytes.

It takes a special kind of insecure to bring up other fighters as an excuse as to why. When Pac did it, it was wrong. When Canelo did it, it was wrong.

Canelo brought it on himself when he fought at 175. The problem here is that he seems to be settling in at 168, which is a weak class, while he can still make middleweight. Smith was ranked #1 at super middleweight and he proved incapable of being real competitive against Alvarez. Plant looks fine but has very little world class experience. Benavidez looks good, too, but can't seem to control himself and will outgrow the division. Saunders has looked like crap since his jump, and oftentimes before it. Who does that leave? Guys to jump up from 160 or boil down from 175.

Then you don't fight for a belt in that division. It's really simple as that.

Look at who I was replying to and see if you can do the math.

Never a good idea to try and run your mouth when your head is up your ass.

Doesn't matter who you were replying to. Question is still legit. You don't count Canelo's 175 belt?
