So do Arthur but didn't see Canelo offer a fight to him.
So did Benavides didn't see Canelo offer a fight to him.
Wow. Went after a shot alcoholic champion who took the fight on short notice.

I dont hink so. I dont think GGG will be viewed as Hagler, Hopkins, Monzon, Robinson, Greb etc

He has no significant wins historically and his only big fights were with Canelo

Canelo will be remembered as a boxing legend

GGG will be remembered for fighting Canelo

First off so so many great fighters never moved up in weight because they didn't feel the need to. They were comfortable making weight because they were disciplined. Hagler Monzon ect.
Why are you acting like it's now a big deal weight wise for Canelo against Bivol and Beterbiev but not Kovalev??? You make no sense.

To all the people criticising Canelo for fighting Kovalev.

Are we forgetting Canelo fought Bivol aswell at Light Heavyweight ? Who was considered top 2 Light Heavyweight at that time ? and is now considered the best Light Heavyweight 3 years later ?

Yes Canelo has been picking a choosing fights for the past few years probably because he knows he's coming towards the end of his career.

But he's still took alot of risks in his career and its still a much more memorable career than Golovkin's.

You can dislike Canelo I don't like him much either but I think people are being a bit biased here.

It took until Golovkin in his mid 30s to start fighting upper echelon opposition.

Canelo fought Mayweather at age 23.

    Says it all.

Golovkin was trying to get the big fights early on but nobody wanted to give him the time of day. Mayweather saw a greenish dude in Canelo with holes in his game that he knew he could weight drain into uselessness ... so he did. When Mayweather ran his mouth about GGG, Golovkin offered to go down in weight to face Floyd, and Floyd soiled his pants. Says it all.

It took GGG until his mid-late 30s to fight good opposition because nobody wanted to face a prime Golovkin. Hell, He had to pay Jacobs extra to take his mandatory shot. Since when does that happen?

He will be remembered as the guy that got the better of Canelo and was treated unfairly, and the KO king that ruled the middleweight division for 8 years, and had fighters running scared.

This is even a question ?

The guy who ate "strange beef?"

The guy who got two gift decisions when the pair met ?

Or the boy-faced, smiling big drama show ?

And that's before we even get to the ginger hair.

You don't get brownie points for hypothethicals and what ifs.

    0-2-1 vs Canelo.

Ruled over a weak division and didn't stand out when he stepped up another level.

I love how Golovkin fans want to gift him hypothetical wins. But then disregard his other close decision wins over Jacobs, Derevyanchenko, with the latter being highly controversial.

So it's ok for Golovkin to win close debatable decisions but not the other way around.

Post your Golovkin-Jacobs round by round scorecard | Page 4 | Boxing News 24 Fan Forum https://share.google/nU5JLB7MkzDPEypLh

Plenty of people had Jacobs winning in this thread.

    Some fights are not debatable.

Lewis-Holy (1) , Lewis won, regardless of how the judges saw it.
Oscar-Tito, Oscar won, regardless of how the judges saw it.
Manny-Timmy(1) Manny won, regardless of how the judges saw it.

And GGG beat Canelo twice, regardless of how the judges saw it.

I scored Canelo/Golovkin 1 7-5 for Golovkin but a draw is not that bad of a result it was close despite what people make out it to be the worst robbery of all time it wasn't.

Canelo/Golovkin 2 I scored a draw but have no issues with Canelo getting the nod he was the aggressor and landed the harder punches.

Both Canelo/Golovkin fights were highly competitive no different to Golovkin winning highly competitive decisions vs Jacobs, Derevyanchenko.

It's not like Golovkin ever dominated Canelo like Lewis clearly did to Holyfield in their 1st meeting.

The Jacobs fight was competitive, but not close.

I scored the Derevyanchenko fight a draw.

Canelo clowned around with the MW title demanding weights of 155.
He juiced up and got the world's shortest suspension (6 months )
He tried every tactic to avoid and delay, waiting for GGG to get old.

And when they met, while the fights were competitive, Canelo still lost both.

The tread question asks which will be remembered more fondly.

    I don't think that's even close.

The Jacobs fight was close ? Plenty of people scored it for Jacobs look at the link to the thread I posted.

I think at the time I had it a 1 point fight either way Golovkin didn't look good in the fight I know that.

Canelo had the more memorable career and has better achievements/resume.

Golovkin in recent times has been getting called overrated did you see social media when Golovkin got a ballot in the hall of fame ? Everyone was saying who did he beat ?

I think Golovkin will be no more famous than Michalczewski in years to come. Two fighters who had alot of title defences against mostly mid opposition, but both were very good fighters but were overshadowed by more famous fighters RJJ, Canelo.

    Yes, multiple weight divisions.
    So overall, IMO, greater .

But H2H, I regard Golovkin as better, and I regard GGG as the best (and greatest) MW of the second decade of this century.

And remember again, the question was which will be more fondly remembered.
