I'll give Canelo a punchers chance against a prime RJJ

Inconsistency is a fair criticism but a focused Toney is simply too much for Canelo. Too good in the pocket, too quick, too slippery and too many angles.

I bet your response is Barkley was no good or something

Barkley is comparable to Jacobs if we're being real

Toney also worked Nunn. Canelo realistically is not outboxing Toney, and his inside game is levels below. Toney was inconsistent but he was a beast on his day

Absolutely not. Toney severely outclassed Barkley whereas Canelo vs Jacobs was competitive. Canelo would be coming forward against Toney and would get outgunned and outsped at mid/close range.

Toney whoops him, or maybe whoops is to strong of a word, I'll say Toney dominates him. Winning at least 9 rounds. Too angular, too quick, too precise, too smart and too good

Oh lawd another Canelo nuthugger thread. :ohno

If I had to choose, I'd pick Canelo as being slightly ahead. This is because even though Toney looks more impressive and flashy on film, a lot of his movement is exaggerated and unnecessary. In my opinion it's not necessary to make the opponent miss by a foot, when a handsbreadth will do. And that's what Canelo does, and as a result he is able to better integrate his offence and defence.

This , Canelo has a slightly higher workrate, but not enough to outwork Toney. Stylewise they are similar, but Toney had a better inside game and I don't see Canelo beating Toney at his own game.

Jacob's is more skilled but Barkley is the one that ran Nunn close and beat Hearns twice. Better feats than anything Jacob's accomplished. Also Canelo is not outboxing Toney, you'd be kidding yourself thinking that. Canelo would march forward. Slip shots and get caught at other times, get timed from time to time while getting almost all of his shots slipped, realize he has 0 chance against Toney in range and will get outboxed fighting a disciplined fight against the taller, longer, quicker, more agile fighter.

In all honesty i should be Using Toney vs Nunn at 160 to compare to Jacobs and Canelo at 160 and not Barkley, because Nunn is a couple levels above Jacobs

Against a peak Toney Canelo stance no chance, Toney performed a glorious work of art against Barkley. Canelo's power will do nothing to Toney. But if Toney comes in unfocuses then Canelo would win

Never mind Jones. Tiberi is a better example of Toney on a bad day.

Look your responses show someone who is young or someone who's a fanboy which is it?

Now go and watch some classic fights of his. I already listed I think earlier in the thread to 6 fights against ATG's to watch.

You lierally the only person crying about it so maybe it's time to educate yourself.

As I said before this is the general not classic. so your whinging like a baby is hilarious.

Do you need one of my sisters tampons? Just asking...

Nunn struggled with Starling winning a split decision, he was losing his way by the time he fought Barkley. All Barley did v Hearns was land one punch he was being out-boxed before that and was out-boxed by a 38 year old Duran and blown out by Benn in one round, no way would Benn have blown out Jacobs in one round, Jacobs took GGG`s best shots.

I'm not insulting you. You would know if I was insulting you. I'm just establishing your ulterior motive for being triggered.

So a Canelo fanboy then.... don't worry there's quite a few of you on here.

Just watch some of his fights I've clipped a bit of wiki for you.

Stylistically a defensive boxer, Toney utilized the shoulder roll technique taught to him by veteran trainer Bill Miller, who had once trained heavyweight champion Ezzard Charles. Toney was an exceptional counterpuncher and inside fighter, who often preferred to fight off the ropes. He possessed fast hand speed and respectable punching power throughout his career and is also noted for his toughness, having never lost any of his 92 professional bouts via stoppage.

Toney with the work ethic of a Bernard Hopkins would have been one of the scariest things ever.

    That’s not relevant Mark.

Tiberi was a low level fighter who out worked an unmotivated version of Toney, who’d just fought Mike McCallum about 6 weeks earlier.
